Hey Guys,
So recently after noticing just how slow my wee netbook runs when broadcasting ive looked into various solutions. First using my macbook. Then a windows 8 laptop. But found my capture card cant be used on either of these operating systems
So yesterday i moved loads of crap out the spare room... bought a cheap desk... and setup my old desktop PC. Its not great spec but it was pretty good back in the day... its quad core should be much better than the wee single processor netbook anyway
This means a couple of things. Better performance AND a much faster setup time!! Now all i need to do is carry the scope out. Then plug in 3 cables and im good to go! The 3 cables will just run out the window to the scope. Alignment can be done remotely using the bullet findercam.
Heres a pic of the setup.
The scope sits directly outside the window.
The AV switcher works great to change views quickly between the findercam and main camera.
I dont have an electric focuser so cant do that remotely however i installed that Teamviewer software (thanks Carl its works great) and i can just grab the netbook to view and control the desktop and go outside for changing focus. (plus handy for when im smoking)
Im pretty happy with the outcome. Its saved me so much setup time! Previously i just sat on my couch with wires everywhere using the netbook. Needing to do a full setup and take down with every use. I reckon ive halved my total setup time.
Hopefully the weather allows me to fully test the setup soon
