Hello group, Just wondering if anyone here has any knowledge with problems on this mount or similar. The last few times out the mount has been going doolally tap on me and needless to say I've been getting somewhat frustrated!! Some of the issues I have are; after I align the first star then select the second star the scope slews to that star but beeps halfway there. Normally this beep is something you hear after the scope has reached it's target! Sometimes objects are simply drifting off and out of the FOV as though the mount was not aligned. Sometimes while slewing to the target the mount simply goes straight past the target and just keeps going before I have to make an emergency stop!! Also my hand controller will occasionally say I'm not connected to the mount or will simply disconnect from the mount during operation and I'm having to switch the mount on and off to get things going again argh!! I can't imagine this is down to the cables as if there was a loose connection somewhere I would expect the hand controller to lose power but that is not the case. I plan to ask my supplier FLO for advice on this but if anyone has a simple answer that will save a lengthy separation from my beloved that would be very much appreciated Regards Karl

Sounds like a glitch in your Hand Controller.
The mount never makes mistakes. It will only do what the hand controller tells it to do. And as you say, cables and connections would make it cut out if they were dicky.
Grab someone else's hand controller and try that. If all works well you will know 100% that it is a dud hand Controller.

I'm going to pick up another one tomorrow and will put it to the test at the next possible opportunity. Best regards Karl

What makes you think it is a Cable Karl? A bad connection would most likely cut out, not send wrong signals.
Be good if it is though, because a cable is cheaper to replace than a hand Controller.

Hello Ken, Bought a new RJ45 cable today and one of my issues has been resolved. The behaviour of the mount does seem to suggest it may be more just the cable though but I've not had chance to do a line up yet. Hopefully if it clears later I'll get chance to do some testing. Cheers Karl

Could be a case of dirty connections Karl a cotton bud in there might solve it on the mount plug as the synscan uses 8 wires just one not making it might cause it.

Hi Carl, I'm testing now and although the cable connection is right the mount is well out!! I'm wondering now if I have the longitude and latitude in the correct order, can you remember which is first?

Can this mount be linked via eqmod...it would then tell you if its handset or mount fault

I have dark clear skies but can not take advantage! I'll have to take a closer look and speak with FLO on Monday. The mount is not 12 months old so it may be possible to send it back for repair. On the plus side I may get some sleep shortly Cheers Karl

Have you done a total reset? Back to factory settings? Hope it can be sorted.

It is weird, basically it was giving me Arcturus as my first alignment star even though it's almost below the horizon and in the East where I can't see it. So I selected one I could see then as normal I selected Polaris for my second star. The scope slews off to Polaris but ends up no where near! Tried some other combos and the same thing! I will see what FLO say Monday but this sport is very frustrating even more than GOLF as I can't play that either!! Thanks Carl Karl

Funny the last time I was out my mount appeared to do its own thing (SW EQ3/2 goto) it was well out on alignment stars as if it was behind time by a good hour or two. But once manually adjusted it found what it was supposed to and tracked. I also checked the settings and were fine. Unfortunatly the weather has stopped me since so havnt had a chance to do a reset. Let us know how it goes with FLO, good luck

Will try again tomorrow and hope that is all that was wrong. Oh the shame

Done it myself. . Start of the month and it all looks fine. But mount was all over the place. Was a blatant case of not reading the manual..lol
