Davy it was not a good night, set up the Universe w/F/6.3 FT/FF on the SCT and found out I did not have enough back focus. Tried several ext tube set ups but still came up short. I had put my G3 StarShooter piggy back w/ Orion 80 mm short tube (had enough ext tubes) and got what appeared to be some good shots of M51, 101, 13 but after I shut down and came in to check the shots they were not that good. The Orion software kept shutting down last night so I will look at the file again. Was not a very productive night, had my mask ready to use, was excited and ready for some good shots.

I know that scenario,,I bought a pile of focus tubes for my set up eventually got to know what works,,but It done my head in big time,it's amazing how the slightest changes make big impacts on focus ect,,the window sill of my flat is covered will fical tubes, barlows, lens's,flip mirror and an offaxis guider I haven't been able to use yet..the joys...I wont take my kit outside again till ive perfected all the uses..last time carols neighbours were going to wake up with telescope parts all over there back gardens,,I was that annoyed nothing going right...:-)

I will trudge on I have stuff in storage containers everywhere and see if I can put something together. If not I will go back to what I had and utilize the mask for focus and see what I can do. The skies are looking good today so far no wind.

I'm a little nervous at getting a new f/10 setup because of the aggressive focal reduction needed, because I think too much focal reduction leads to mixed results. I'd love to see your Universe thru your 120 one of these days, Bobby.
