Hi Bill,
do you know what is causing this to happen, it seems only to happen when I use the program on my laptop and its ok on my desktop monitor at full screen.
When i'm scrolling up or down I start to get multi text even if I'm scrolling very slow. Laptop screen size 15.6 and I've had it in win7 and now in win8.1
Here I've replicated it on my desktop monitor by downsizing the software

Yes, I get the same thing with mine. Always have. Every time I scroll up or down, the text smears. I thought it was just my computer not keeping up with the program. Any ideas Bill, please? Here's mine:
My computer is a HP Pavillion g series, Core i5 Laptop, running Win7 & Radeon Graphics.

The problem that you both are seeing is related to Windows controls being overlaid on top of one another (canvas on top of a canvas on top of a window). For some reason Windows can't draw the controls fast enough as they are scrolled in the window. The problem is exacerbated by *some* video cards more than others, but is fairly annoying.
I am working on a solution (drawing the controls directly onto the window, and then modifying their positions individually as the user scrolls), and this should be rolled into the software in an upcoming release (hopefully soon). In the mean time, if you switch to another settings page and then back again, Windows will redraw the controls correctly and you won't see the "smearing".
Hope this helps.
Cheers

thanks Bill for the info, bloody windows again will they ever roll out a decent OS Even when they do roll out a decent OS they soon mess it up, usually with endless security/software bug updates. I am getting this scrolling problem just the same, must be part of the course. As for Windows 10 I've upgraded one of my 3 PC's not planning to upgrade the other 2 in a hurry. Cheers, Harry.

As for Windows 10 I've upgraded one of my 3 PC's not planning to upgrade the other 2 in a hurry. Cheers, Harry. Sometime old takes on a beauty of it's own. Hard to beat the looks of the old locomotive like the one in your avatar. How about posting a full sized image? . On the old operating systems front, can anyone give me a resonantly good excuse to upgrade from Windows XP?. I use five computers to operate my observatory. Four in the observatory and one in the house. Three are still running XP.. The XP's have a combined total over twelve years of service and in that time have given me less trouble that the two Win 7 PCs, I have watched the upgrade shenanigans of fellow astronomers for many years. It really is amusing at times. I'm convinced that some of them would still be happy with XP but couldn't resist the new Windows.. Granted there are those buying new PC's that have no choice but by far the pleas for help have come from people upgrading from an older system. Sometimes within hours of the introduction of the new operating system. As for old I was getting old when DOS was introduced. I remember when DOS 2.1 was the latest and greatest. I may not be as old and as handsome as the locomotive but at least I have figured out to leave the upgrades alone until you have no choice..

Dear Idb, Windows 7 isn't too bad, it all went downhill after that. The other thing is that Windows 8 & 10 seem to collect a lot more information than before. The Steam Loco isn't that old, this one is Tornado it was built over a period of 17 years (1990 - 2008) by a very dedicated team of people. It was paid for by monthly subscriptions at 'The price of a pint per month' gradually taking shape over the 17 year period. My Avatar picture was taken at the Great Central Railway in Loughborough England when it was on it's commissioning trials (July 2008) before being allowed on to mainline service. At some point, I would expect companies to stop creating drivers for hardware that are 32-bit. Sometime after that, some companies will write software that is 64-bit only.
Then and only then will XP fade into the shadows. Same thing happened with Win98 and 16-bit, it just happened faster.
Win98, XP, and Windows 2000 Pro - probably the best Microsoft OS's.
Sorry, not trying to hijack the thread.

I prefer XP but my old PC's and laptop all died and the new ones came with Win7 installed. It took me a few weeks to get everything working as good as in XP and they've been running well for the last few years.
When I bought these PC's I asked for XP and they said it was no longer available, so I took the jump and went with Win7. I am used to it now, but I refused to go up to Win8 as it doesn't play well with a lot of my astro gear and programs. Apparently 10 is even worse!!
I read in the Mallincam Yahoo group that quite a lot of Broadcasters can't get Win10 to allow them to broadcast on 'Night Skies Network', and WebcamMax won't operate properly either. I use both, so that's more reason I won't be upgrading to 10.
