Chris has asked for this to be posted: . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Hi Group I just thought I would mention that I will be broadcasting tonight (at Night Skies Network) starting at 10 pm EST. Jun 16 on channel Astrogate. I will be first starting the session with capturing some dark field correction frames and then talking about the new camera + answering any questions you may have regarding this camera and it's software. I want to hopefully clear up any misconceptions that some people have mention on a particular web site. I will be viewing on the east side of the meridian up to about 2 hours pass the meridian but cannot do a meridian flip due to my set up so most galaxies will be out of my range this time of year when it gets fully dark by 11 pm. ** If someone can find any galaxies on the east side of the meridian (north, south and east), please let me know. I am more comfortable with this camera and I will be fully pushing it's limit. I will be starting out with the Lumicon Deep Sky LP filter and later will try out the Orion 7 nm Ha filter on some emission nebulas. I hope you can all join me with civil discussions and make this fun and educational. Please feel free to pass on the word about this taking place on the other forums like Cloudy Nights, Star Gazer Lounge, Video Astronomy etc. Thank you and see you on channel Astrogate! Chris Appleton

Yeah, time zones make it hard John. Same with me trying to watch Broadcasts from UK, Europe, and South Africa.
U.S. broadcasts are easy as they are in my early afternoons.

I'm sure Jack will record again.
This one should be more interesting because there should be a lot more questions now that people are starting to get familiar with the features of the camera.

It was an excellent broadcast! For those that were unable to see it, Chris was changing gain and exposure times on each object to really display how well this SkyRaider DS Mono works at different settings. Even when he slew to another object he dropped to 1 second and when he arrived at the object he would raise the exposure to 3 seconds to centre the object and when Histogram was used there it was in all its glory at only 3 seconds. And not some faint grainy noisy view. A clear smooth detailed image! Viewers were asking Chris to go to Full gain while he was at 45 seconds, and there was still no noise!!! The background stayed smooth. The only noticeable change at Full Gain on long exposures was the slight grainy look between the dark sky and bright nebula, but once the Black point in the Histogram was lowered the grainy look vanished to give a totally smooth noiseless view at full gain and 45 seconds!!! At the other end of the levels, 3 seconds was giving absolutely lovely detailed smooth views. It was the Smoothness of the view and lack of noise that most comments were about. You would swear that they were stacked and processed, yet they were continuous single 3 second interlaced Live exposures. Jack Huerkamp recordered 3 hours of videos of Chris's broadcast for those that couldn't make it into NSN. Once Jack posts the Videos on You Tube I'll give a link in this thread.

At one point, there were over 50 people in the broadcast; I'd guess about 30-35 lurkers.

Thanks Ken for putting up the video's and Chris for the broadcast's and Jack for making the video's.
I think these type of camera's with this sensor will appeal to a wider community with it's short exposure time and folk like me with a Alt/Z mount would benefit from it.
