I've just bought a full HD 1920x1080 23xi monitor, not tried it yet, won't be for another week till I get the room finished off, will be interesting to see if it makes any difference than my laptop screen, I've tried it with photo's just to test it and it's a lot sharper image, but don't know how it will be with the video camera's.

Hard to trust anything these days. A friend of mine, a highly respected Astrophotographer, bought a very expensive 'Graphic Artist' monitor for his astrophotography. He paid over $2000 for it because he believes in using "the best of the best if you want to do things properly". after several months of trying to adjust it and calibrate it, he gave up and gave it to me, saying "good luck with it" He can never be bothered complaining and getting refunds/exchanges. He just goes elsewhere. I have NEVER been able to get it to calibrate. It is way over saturated in colour and the Contrast is through the roof, but it is my main monitor for my broadcasts That's why I ask so often if the view and colour looks good when broadcasting The quality of the view is spectacular, that's why I still use it. But I have to guess at what is going out over the net. I know my Laptop monitor is rubbish, so I try balance what I think is half way between the two monitors here they are both in use:
