Hi,
Way back in July I ordered the complete Sky Watcher Astronomy Bundle, a mini EQ mount with auto guide and various options, for cameras with heavy lenses and lightweight telescopes. A lightweight travel mount. Just been advised it has been sent from the supplier 18 Nov, good thing I did not hold my breath!! Will post some images of the gear when it arrives. Sadly, it will not get used during the summer, it is well past my bedtime before it gets dark!
My Canon 450D MONO & Peltier Cooled DSLR will also be here by the end of the month from Luis Campos in Portugal. A MONO Peltier cooled sensor of this size in a standard astro camera cost a lot of money, so this is a very low cost way to go.
Note*: I abandoned my 5-month wait for a MONO 1100D from JTW in Holland, who I understand is now outsourcing all his camera mod work. If anyone is going in this direction, do your research on who can/cannot supply-I got my fingers burnt and lost some money despite a refund, during the intervening 5-month the exchange rate dropped nearly $200 off what I paid up front to JTW.
Clear skies, Shevill

good grief Shevill. Why does everything take so long to get to you. You're only on the other side of the world, not on another planet.
I would have given up on the 1100D as well. 5 months is way too long to wait when you have paid your money. Shame you lost money on it too. I would have probably given up on the Mount too.

The JTW website at the time I ordered stated a two week delivery time back in beginning of May. Eventually a club almost formed of those who never received a camera and who were refunded after many, many emails back & forth. In essence, a whole year's astrophotography down the tubes for me as we are now into daylight saving and have very short dark nights, plus the Milky Way has just about set in the west by the time it is dark. I have spent so much time waiting for gear over the years than actually using it in some instances. An RAF Medics Poppy pin badge posted to me from England on 25th October, arrived today, 19th November, far too late for the 11-11-14 and much too soon for 11-11-2015, can't win sometimes. As an aside, we had the President of China visit Hobart yesterday-the second most powerful man in the world, and he drove within 70 metres of my observatory from the airport to Hobart and return later in the day. The giveaway on his arrival/departure was the big helicopter that flew low over the highway with police looking down from the side doors. Our 5-acre rural property borders the road to the airport and it looks down on the road, a piece of cake if anyone had an ulterior motive and wanted to use our property. His own jet was too big to land here so the Chinese delegation had to come by smaller aircraft. Some things do move quickly and efficiently!
Going into hospital for some minor surgery 1st Dec. so it fits in well with our light nights, hot days, and Xmas around the corner, I will have to take things easy for a few weeks. Maybe catch up on my secret video telescope project in the workshop, lathe work and milling etc. is OK, just no heavy lifting or driving for a while post op.
Clear skies... Shevill
