Its definitely a usable cam phil but you will find iso 1600 very noisy. The normal practice would be to shoot with a lower iso, maybe 400 and for as long as your tracking will allow. 5 mins for imaging is not uncommon, depending on light pollution and the target dso. Check out ATP, (astro photography tool) Its built for Canon cameras and is very cheap. Its also very good. You will need to use the camera usb cable, connected to a usb extension cable if needed and plugged into the computer. You can then control the camera and exposures from the computer. You program a shooting sequence in the software and just let it run. You can then concentrate on the other scope.

This isn't exactly what we mean by 'Digital Cameras' Phil What you are doing is 'Imaging'. The subforum title 'Digital Cameras' is for Digital Cameras capturing in video mode, or Screen grabs from Digital Cameras doing Video. I have moved this thread here to the 'General' section where it is allowed. All the other sections are for 'Video' type of cameras, and even DSLR's, but when used in Video mode.

That's fine Phil. You can post all the 'Imaging' images you like in this 'General' section

If you have clear skies on the night of the 20th, you could try 30sec exp, iso 200/400 pointed at Orion and you may catch the meteors from the Orionid meteor shower. Just let the cam run for a few hours and see what you catch.
