I have been doing a bit of ebay shopping over the last couple of weeks. I have acquired some useful additions to my meteor camera setup.
first up was a pair of these little beauties. Just right for my 1/3 sensor cams. It provides almost as much fov as my previous Computar 2.4mm F1.4, but is auto iris and faster. The image brightness is very noticeable and allows me to capture at X2 sensup as opposed to X4 and with less gain applied.
Then I came across one of these hard to find lenses. I got outbid by £2.00 but it was then relisted and I got it for the asking price. It wasn't cheap, but I thought it a fair price for a rare lens. This will be perfect for the Watec 902H2 Ultimate that is coming very soon.
Yes, I have this one in my collection, great lens. My 8mm at f/0.8 is very noticeably brighter, it makes an f/1.2, 1.4 lens look dim.
Strangely enough, but the guy was also selling a nice little B/W cam so I snatched that as well. With a lux rating of 0.001 @ F2 it should give some interesting results with a fast lens. The other Fujitsu F0.95 I bought should be perfect for this cam. Shevill will probably recognise it. (Have added my notes)
I also have one of these which was also re-branded the Supercircuits PC 164, bought many years ago, recently bought the new PC 164 EX II model, from Supercircuits in the USA. Very smooth image and sensitive, compared to the Watec Wat-902H I have which has noise which makes it unusable as an all sky camera. I need to do some single frame comparisons with all the mono low light cameras & lenses I have, it might be a useful project. Clear skies, Shevill
So I am now sorting out my cam housings to accommodate the new cameras and will mount them on the roof. I'll keep my original meteor cam in action so that I can compare the differences in operation and image brightness. I'll post comparison pics when I have some.
I'm hoping to have it all set up for the Orionids display on the 20th-21st October.
