Yeah, you can keep that to yourself Davy The Australian Snowfields are a couple of hours drive from here and they look like that. And they can stay a couple of hours away! We only get light snow falls here about 1 or 2 days each winter and about 5 days of sleet. That's bad enough. Tonight I had to stop broadcasting because the cold (minus 5 Celsius) jammed my mount up. It locked the gears. Must have shrunk everything too much because even the clutch locks were frozen tight

Chris you guys seem to go from one extreme to another over there with the weather Yes John we have our four seasons and from June to late Sept is our summer and it can get pretty hot here. I just hate winter and it can get very cold especially the one we had last year. The only thing that I could not take is all of the rainy days you guy's get over there in England.
Clear skies,
Chris A

Enjoying a nice heatwave here at the moment Chris. 26deg C in my bedroom at midnight....toasty. Nice clear nights as well. Unfortunately it doesn't get proper dark till after 11pm and with my work schedule I have no time to observe late at night. The only consolation is now that my all sky cam is running, I can still meteor watch without any effort.

Yes same here Allan it does not get fully dark yet till after 11 pm and work gets first priority. I want to get an all Sky Cam soon and Rock of Mallincam is going to be coming out with one. These all sky cameras are great little devices.
Cheers,
Chris

Yes Chris, I'm having fun with mine. It get switched on as soon as I get in. I eat my dinner while watching the clouds go by. No set up time involved, just flick a switch and turn on the TV. Seriously thinking of adding a second one for a different view.

Hi Allan, a nice cool night then?, I used to dream of nights as cool as that, even pray for nights so cool when I lived in Adelaide. My first year there, back in 1980-81, we had days on end of over 43 C with a slight drop overnight. After a few days of that everything inside & out is at the same temp. We were stuck in one room with an air con going flat out. It did not rain from October til the following April, OK the odd shower that barely hit the ground. Adelaide has a very dry atmosphere, even so, for a Pom, anything over 68-F is a heatwave. The year I left the UK, 1968, a report in the local paper said, Marines faint in 'heat wave' 69-F on their passing out parade down in Devon, we were there on holiday's at the time. I stuck it out in Adelaide for 7 years then came back to Tasmania which has a more temperate climate.
Clear skies... Shevill

Yeah, extremes are amazing here too. We go from minus 6 celsius in winter to 42+ celsius in summer. You either freeze or melt But most of our summer sits between 25 and 35 celsius, so it's comfortable most of the time. My Spring and Autumn are weird. They can go from 2 to 30 degrees, in no particular fashion or order
