Hi, As a long time user of various brand, Nikon, Canon, Pentax (screw & bayonet) 35mm camera lenses on astro and any C mount camera, I am waiting for a moonless, cloudless night to take some shots with these two cameras with camera lenses. The older screw thread Pentax Super Takumar lenses can be bought for a song on eBay or camera S/H stores and in general they make excellent astro lenses. I have a dozen from my old film days and it is great to let them see starlight. Initially I found a problem when using lenses via their 'C' to camera mount adapters, the threaded ring in the camera body turns when turning the focus or iris ring on the lenses. To overcome this I have fitted a chrome plated brass screw to the body of each camera. The end of the screw is convex and polished, so it does not damage the thread on the ring, it only needs a very light pressure to prevent the ring turning, which causes focus shift.
Clear skies... Shevill

Very clever DIY Shevill.
It's a wonder the company didn't fit these lock screws as standard. I'm sure other people have a similar problem and would like to be able to lock an adaptor into place.

Thanks, Ken, It would not surprise me to see this in their future camera range, I posted the pics to Sam at ZWO, which he found a very interesting idea/mod. I have also posted quite a few more video images in my astro folder-all sky images are at the bottom of the equipment stuff.images. To me an image is of little interest/informative unless it has the technical details to go with it, scope camera, etc. etc. Clear skies... Shevill
