It just gets worse. News is not good about the way he treats his customers when their 'Paid for' cameras never turn up: groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/mallincam/conversations/messages/63865"I know this is an old thread, but I just had to add that I had a bad experience with AVS. After Matt's multiple promises of delivering the APU-1 and excuses as to why he couldn't fulfill those promises, I got fed up and cancelled my order. Now he's dragging his feet in paying my refund...saying he'll pay me back as soon as possible. WTH does that mean? I think it means my money I sent him is spent and gone and he doesn't have the funds right now to pay me back. I am not a bank! A Paypal refund is a few mouse clicks that he can't bring himself to do, but he sure kicked me out of his Yahoo group quickly! He's really making a name for himself over there. I should've just dealt with someone more reputable like Rock and Co. I have never encountered such a difficult to deal with vendor ever".

Sorry to hear your bad news, but believe me, guys like this are out there, as I found to my cost last year with many more suffering the same fates. Time to name & shame to prevent anyone else sending money into a black hole. You will never see your money or goods I fear, the story is all too familiar. If it is too good to be true, then it really is just that, a myth, or as the USA calls it, "Vapourware". I would stick with guys who have a solid reputation such as Rock Mallin and his USA distributor, Jack H. Also the well-known camera makers.
Best Regards, Shevill

Thanks Shevill, but it wasn't me. It is a message left today by a member of the Yahoo Group. There is a thread in there by the people who haven't recieved their 'Paid for' goods from Astrovideo. Some for as long as a year.
I posted it in here to keep people up to date with what is happening with that product as this thread is about that company, and most wouldn't know it was in the Yahoo group to read.

Hmmm ...I hope Richard is right and the APU-1's start shipping. I suggested the APU-1 to a colleague who wants to get into Video astronomy .Having paid up 6 months ago he keeps asking me if I have heard anything. Paul

Everyone to there opinion.
.time for the customer to deal with the vendor. The subject has been discussed in a fair manor but without the vendors input Its getting close to infringing on our ..no bulling rule

Hi Guys,
I would take these types of post's with a huge grain of salt. When someone won't use their real name makes me wonder. Also the fact that I have not ever seen that username on either Yahoo site before puts up a red flag for me. There are those out there who are misguided and think they might be helping their favorite vendor to gain favor with them by posting stores such as this. While it might be true, I have my doubts....
If the guy ordered a APU-1, I hope he gets his money back or a camera. I don't know what the cancellation policy is at AVS when you pre-order a product that is in development. Myself, I always wait till I can see one and know it's in stock.
I can say the APU-1 does not appear to be vaporware, seen pictures of the parts, circuit boards, chips in quantity along with camera on the AVS site. From the specs given out, it should compete with the xterminator at less than 1/2 the cost. Will be interesting to see? In the meantime I'm willing to give AVS the benefit of doubt, a new company bringing new products to the market always have delays etc.

Ok guys ..subject closed.. nothing can be achieved continuing this thread.. unless matt wishes to say something constructive.
if someone has bought kit and unhappy he takes it up with the vendor..
no point ranting on about it in any forum.. what has been said will be left on here for video astronomers to see..
the forum wishes all vendors good luck with there products and our members buy what suits there needs and budget. davy
