I decided to go with the Celestron AVX as a more functional goto mount, and it arrived tonight. Yay!
If I can't solve the EQ6 with ASCOM then it will just have to be a planetary/common DSO mount.
I eventually wanted a dual scope setup for outreach, anyway... now that has come sooner than expected.
Very anxious to get back online!

Rick, you should look into Starsense, I use it with my AVX and it works real well. Once you get through the beating of getting it setup, it will put objects center of FOV every time. If you do decide to get it, let me know and I can give you some tips on setting it up.
What OTA you plan to mount on it?

Thanks Lee, I am definitely considering it, but may hold off for a bit so I can get used to the mount alone first.
I'm going to start with my VRC8 CF (13 lbs) and my Jr Pro.
I also have an Orion 80 EDT CF for wider fields, but I'm still looking for the right ring/dovetail set, as I don't like the little mount arm.

Rick, she's a keeper (your wife) Actually, my wife is the same. When I said my mount was playing up (I was using the wrong alignment stars) she said she would save up and buy me a new one. Aren't they adorable when they want to help us in our hobby Good luck with the AVX.

She wants to set all my stuff in the street and run it down with the truck, then back up and do it 3 more times. LOL Hemmi
