Just thought i would give a thumbs up for this filter. I bought it used for £30 can buy it new for £45 (was 50 at the time) www.firstlightoptics.com/light-pollution-reduction-imaging/baader-neodymium-filter.htmlThe main reason i bought it was for the IR cut on it for use with the video camera. The light pollution part was a nice extra. However the effects are very clear! Here is a with and without of just some random stars Attachments:

Good stuff Chris great to see the difference. This helps a lot of people deciding.
That's what it's about taking the extra time to do these comparisons.

Sorry Chris but the only difference I see is that one is purplish and one is brownish. The 'with' shot has a slight purple sky and the 'without' has a slight brown sky. Apart from the sky colour difference what am I looking for? I must be missing something

Sorry Ken your right that was stupid of me to use shots with no object. I think i was looking for uranus at the time (no luck) and just thought the stars looked nice. The purplish colour you mention is a problem I'm facing with the LN300 it should be black and is actually why i ended up taking the filter off to see if it went away. Next time im out i will do it with some object.

Here is a better comparison with an object this time showing the difference with and without the filter. Taken with the scb2000. The object was low on the horizon and right in the worst of the light pollution.

The one on the left is fantastic! The sky is a better colour and the red on the outer of the Ring Nebula is visible. I hope the one on the left is the one using the filter

Haha yes the left one has the filter on It does seem to make a decent difference. As i said i was pointing right into the worst of the light pollution very low on the horizon. When just looking at the sky with your eyes it was totally orange. So IR cut + very effective light pollution filter. Im very happy with this filter. It pretty much never comes off my camera

I just bought another one of these filters for the other cam. It was so noticeable not having one. I had a go at using just a IR cut filter but it was no where near as good.
Stupid question but... Would it be possible to stack these to kill even more LP? Or would it make no difference as its all to do with wave lengths it lets through or something?
