Okay got so far with this one but not looking to good on the wobble front! The base is fine and the section to attach the mount is fantastic but the wooden post and bolt down shoe are just not solid enough! I found the slightest flick and the post vibrated for hours!
Project now on hold until I can get something similar for this mid section but in steel.

Burn the wood. ..you would have no end of probs with it other than vibration temp and humidity changes and it would be all over thr the place bowing and flexing. .steel or concrete in a drain pipe ..wider the better...

Thought you were up to something Karl too quiet lol.
The mount plates are grand nicely done, but the single wooden post is to small I think. The weakest point I would say is the post holder with the weight your putting on top. A mobile mount is going to be a challenge.

Yes I've been busy with this one Carl just a shame it's not worked as planned. I am pleased with the mounting section though as this works great. The bottom section is threaded so you can tweak and adjust to get it all perfectly level and I plan to have it powder coated white to match the mount. This on top of a concrete pier would be superb! I now plan to have a steel section made up when I get chance and that should do the trick nicely. I would have done this before but I don't have a welding machine

go to a metal merchant and get a square post to slide into your base and weld it up. I would of made the base square section a bit taller or like Davys said the drain pipe and fill it with cement works good but you would have to dig it all up again which would be a shame after all the work you've put into it.

Yes thanks Johnno that's the plan, they'll weld it for you at my local merchant also. The base has the 4 bolts in place so all I need is the post with a plate welded to the bottom. I can then drill the holes to suit the bolts on the base. The main issue I have is the top part and how I attached the upper section. To be mobile I need the ability to take the thing apart when not being used. With the wooden post I was simply going to drill and bolt the top section on. Once I've worked it all out I'll nip up and get something made up.

Karl would go for square steel but what I would do is get them to weld a steel plate to both the top and bottom.
As the pier is hollow you won't be able to bolt the disc on without a top plate. You would then have to turn the bottom disc upside down then just drill the same holes through the top plate.
I would go for at least 8 - 10mm plate at the bottom and top.

Thanks Carl, square does sound better. The top plate I am going to drill and place bolts for the bottom disc before it is welded. These bolts will be left in place sticking up much the same as the concrete base.
