Thanks Ken. .some nice weather would be good and appreciated. .lol...as I had said ive been tweaking the kit over last couple of days and on familiarising myself with eqmod I found they have a timer that can be set. . I set it for two minutes and carried on tracking orion neb..well on cdc anyway as it was still light and my favourite low clouds were smiling in my Window..it works a treat,, , done its two minutes then parked scope, tried it for five minutes hey hey same again reset to park..now you're all saying davy has lost the plot but this is a big plus for me, I can set up my scope and let it track an object while im out and know my cables won't be ripped to bits with the mount or camera smashed up..so I will set up at one edge of window and time it on lunar and sidereal rates till it reaches other end of window and I can then set the timer to do its stuff..no more going to pipeband practices and cursing a clear sky because im missing it..so bg thanks to eqmod something ive had for years now and just tinkered with. .will be used all the time now...hope ive not bored the backside off you all ..davy

Good stuff Davy. I remember when I first bought a Sammy and GOTO reflecter and froze with a laptop for hours trying to watch the goods on the screen, which is still great for dark sites.
It is brilliant to see here the amount of technology being exploited by folks for home setups. It just keeps getting better!

Scope set up and tracking nearest star to left hand side of my window to see how long I can run scope till it reaches right hand side of window. .I can then set a time span on eqmod and when timer finishes it will park scope so no mishaps. .ran an hour so far and not reached halfway point. .

Glad you're settled in Davy, Got a hour or so last night to try my new scope;; at long last. Jupiter was brilliant, unfortunately, by the time I set up my camera and TRIED to centre on the giant, the clouds quickly returned leaving me cursing the heavens. One (perhaps stupid) question. I thought viewing through a window would reduce to quality of your scopes optics, unless you left it open. Couldn't do that in my house, unless I wanted the contents removed. LOL Catch you later Pete

I wouldn't know pete....its only clouds I get,,lol...three flights up so they would need a big ladder to get to mine...glass will make a diff but I think the focus may compensate it a bit..imaged the moon ok
