Not a lot of info on this, but uk sellers are giving you a discount,, if you buy it now and receive it in July,, personally I think this is pretty poor,, if I'm buying something,,I want to know how it performs,, so what happens if it doesn't cone up to your expectations,,you would have blindingly bought it on the hope it does what you think it will,, I was convinced I should buy this,,because its made by zwo,, but I found a thread on cloudy nights,,pages long on how it's a Bargain ,,pre neaf launch,, now a lot have placed orders and it now appears the software is directed at beginners,,no expert mode,, something like ten subs,, and this may change,,, eventually,, maybe not the Bargain we were or I was hoping for,, still looks a decent bit of kit

Bit more info filtering through now..Still not to what I would like.. but I'm very tempted to buy it from what information there is..few folk on astronomy Scotland got pre orders in.. £450 but only if you buy it before the end of the month..then it goes up in price by £80..delivery is now August.. the size and all it does would make it an ideal set up for the scopemobile ..small and portable

Yeah, I got am email about 2 days ago letting me know the pre-release sale is nearly closed for the ZWO Seestar. I went and checked the specs again and nothing sounds very exciting about it that the others don't already do better. But the price is good.

Ordered the seestar last night from first light optics.. that's my biggest purchase astronomy wise in a few years.. it makes sense to me to have it in the collection.. given the price against other smart telescope prices zwo is going to or try to corner the market like they have done with there cameras.. so I can imagine in the future seestar will become prominent in astronomy.. If I was a beginner.. it would tick the right boxes for me. Don't need a thousand pound mount like a heq5..given this is a mount I recommend to folk getting into VA or AP.
Then it boasts a triplet scope.. I would recommend the sw evostar ed80.. doublet..
Camera wise..as said a lot of folk go for a zwo camera.. ok going to stuck with what's built in to seestar..can't see it being an issue.
Built in focuser Built in filters Tripod level sensor And basically an asiair built in Plate solving for setting up.
Don't know how it compares to other smart scopes but.. certainly beats a lot on price..

Not a happy chappy.. saw on the first light optics website that the waiting time for the seestar had doubled to 30-40 days..so I messaged them..they posted a link to sgl post they put up.. the seestar is the largest order for any single telescope they have sold.. and it's possible that it could be November before they get through there orders.. other retailers have the same problem zwo don't have the stock to fulfill orders and will have a back log.. I emailed flo to cancel mine.. if it came mid November to me it would be waste of half my season.. and the thought that they might rush and make a balls up of scopes trying to get them out the door I'm not keen on..

I had a similar issue with the SW Esprit 100 ED, I always thought that there was a quality issue with it, confirmed when I traded it in. There had to be reason for sellers selling scopes after that as 'checked & tuned' before they were sold. That is why I bought the ZWO ASI 533MC as it had been out long enough to get the gremlins sorted out. As you say you can lose too much of the season with delivery delays. When the clocks change it is game on.

Got dogs abuse from a few on the seestar Facebook group when I said I wasn't happy about paying money up front after it was advertised as 15 to 20 days..then doubled then went to it could be November.. and it then was mentioned by zwo they hadn't went into full production.. having a laugh.. I never signed up for a kick starter.. They then said to me That they are continuing to upgrade the telescope.. mmm maybe I'm no reading things right... but it was advertised to be bought.. If I want a loaf of bread for Christmas I'm no going to pay for it in July.. Get a grip zwo.. your misleading folk and getting them to part with cash months before they will get there scope.. Put right off buying there kit now..treating folk like _annies

I'm not very impressed with the hard case being made from Styrofoam instead of hard plastic, but other that that, here it is, the ZWO Seestar:

I've ordered one of these. Hope to get it in a fortnight. I plan on doing a product review here with plenty of pics, learnings, results, and comparison to traditional methods. Living close to Explore Scientific HQ, I have seen the 3k - 5k Unistellar Scopes. The pictures I've seen from it are pretty fantastic. Waiting for a new version to come. Can't get one now until after bonus and tax season

Yeah, 2 of our club members are going to buy the Seestar. Suppose to arrive in the Bintel store here in Oz some time during February. This is on their website: "Bintel expects orders to ship after Wednesday, February 28th for this product."

I'm not sure that I will do any of my traditional broadcasting with the Seestar, but I have had an interested in live broadcasting on Instagram and TicTok which is difficult to do on a PC - or at least I haven't figured it out yet.
I also may try it at an outreach event with a purpose-setup & cheaper android tablet.

There are some people actually broadcasting on NightSkiesNetwork with the Seestar. And it all looks pretty good.

Took this Sun picture this afternoon with my Seestar - I've left it outside hoping to do some stargazing tonight, but it has attracted some cloud cover.

M42 with the Seestar, had some thin cloud on & off, not bad considering the conditions. I thought about when I was going to buy a Seestar, but came to the conclusion that if it continues to be popular and sells well, ZWO will be very tempted to increase the price. Happy with my first light, intended to image the 12P/Pons-Brooks comet but had the Seestar in the wrong place too close to the house. I knew if I moved the scope it would take a while for it to sort out it's new position. So I went for M42 instead. I was surprised that the comet was on the Seestar's database. I'm working on mounting it on it on a larger tripod, waiting for a 3/8" screw adaptor to arrive so I can try it on a tripod I have got. Shows great potential & I operated it sat in front of the telly!

Hoped to get a picture of comet 12P/Pons-Brooks, but that area was cloudy. Did get photos of the Moon & M42 before it clouded over completely. Some minor points that I've learned: - As it takes a while for the Seestar to boot up I switch it on before I take it outside, to give it more time to prepare itself. Adjust any support so it is level, then if you need to calibrate the compass all you need to do is hold the tripod firmly and rotate the Seestar on it's mounting screw and tighten it down again when the compass is calibrated. Impressed by the set up time now I'm getting more used to it.

Nice Harry. I hope ZWO add a noise reduction algorithm to future updates. Most of the Seestar images I see on the net are full of noise.
