Our town didn't have a park for kids to play in or for visitors to stop and rest/picnic at. Fortunately I was a member of the Progress Association for our town and we set to work several years ago to get a park for our town. After many meetings with the shire council it was approved and designed by park architects. Construction started about a year ago, and one of the requests (made by me) in the planning meetings was to include an information sign about our town's dark sky, and advertising for our observatory My request was approved and I was tasked by council with designing the information sign, so I went all out and designed a series of signs to be placed along the park (why go soft when they gave me open slather) My designs of the information boards include many of my own Astrophotography images, and were sent to council for approval, and they sennt then straight to the printers! A few days ago they were erected in the new park and look great (if I do say so myself) Here's a photo of forum member Mike walking up to the signs in our new park: . . . and here's the signs:Intro Moon Planets Star Clusters Nebulae Galaxies Final Info . . . and a look along the length of the walk.
They should look much nicer once all the gardens and landscaping go in The boards are a permanent fixture in the park.

What a great effort Ken! Very well done. I hope that it gets the response from locals and visitors that it deserves.
