Excellent captures Paul. Mike and I did some Galaxy hunting and imaging tonight as it was semi-clear, if you don't count the thick fog we were looking through We were using Mikes gear tonight because we were doing a final focus test with his new electric focuser. So we snapped off a few shots of Trifid Nebula, Sagittarius Star Cloud, Markarians Chain of Galaxies in Virgo, then followed up with the Coma Berenices Galaxy Cluster. Wow, I'd forgotten that there's a lot of Galaxies in there Looked stunning.

Good stuff Ken. Coma Berenices is always just a bit low for me at home and at 9 o clock Virgo is behind a big gum . I will get Virgo galaxies next time. It is a good time for viewing but the northern sky for me is always more difficult at home. A lot more light and obstructions compared to the southern .
I am working harder than I want to and the weather hasnt been the best so I was happy to get out for a while tonight.
What focuser has Mike got? Let me know what you think of it. Electric focusers are something I have never considered.
Good to hear from you. Keep up the good stuff. It appears you are really enjoying your CAA at the moment. cheers Paul

That HitecAstro controller costs more than the whole Skywatcher Electric Focuser Kit!! www.firstlightoptics.com/astronomy-cables-leads-accessories/hitecastro-dc-focus-controller.htmlIf a controller dies it's cheaper to buy a whole new kit (which is exactly what I did) The Hitecastro controller is $143.95 Aussie dollars PLUS Freight from UK plus any import duties. The whole Skywatcher Kit cost $99 in most Astro shops here in Oz. www.opticscentral.com.au/saxon-electric-focus-controller.htmlI reckon one dud hand controller in 15 years is pretty good value and one day I will attempt to fix the broken one, then I will have 3 working focusers

Cold clear night tonight. Used the lx 90 8" with a 294mm and 6.3 FR. Lots of coma with this combo. Not a patch on the Rasa here is m65 again. 10sec x 18.
Ngc5128 10sec x 18 and M87 10sec x 18 . The jet can be clearly seen
cheers Paul

Nice results Paul. But it looks like your imaging train is slightly out of alignment. It appears similar to Coma in the upper right corner. It doesn't ruin your images though which is good We've got FOG, but we're doing what we can because there's no cloud for a change. Just this blasted FOG!!! Did I also say it's foggy?

Thanks Ken. How was your weather over there last night? Wasnt foggy was it ? I seem to have a lot of problems with the lx 90. The collimation appears out. Also every time I put the 294 with a focal reducer on the lx90 there is terrible coma out to the edges. There was no fog over here ,but it was damn cold cheers Paul

Paul "I seem to have a lot of problems with the lx 90. The collimation appears out". - That would explain the Coma in one corner. "Also every time I put the 294 with a focal reducer on the lx90 there is terrible coma out to the edges". - That tells me your Focal Reduction is too strong. Can you move the Focal Reducer closer to the sensor? That would solve most of the perimeter Coma. Many of my 450d images have Coma in one corner from the weight of the camera pulling it out of alignment (depending on where the scope is pointing)

Thanks Ken I am always disappointed with the lx90. Next clear night, I will give the newt a run.The 294 seems to match up well with fast newts. The 294 doesnt match well with focal reducers cheers Paul
