SharpCap 4.0 is nearly finished - right now work is mostly on finding and fixing bugs and updating the documentation. One of the great new features is a sequence planning tool, which helps plan and then automatically execute an imaging session for deep sky. You can automate things like plate solving to center the target, focus and capturing using different filters. If you have time, download the pre-release version from www.sharpcap.co.uk/sharpcap/sharpcap-downloads/4-0-beta and give it a try. If you find anything that worked in 3.2 and is broken in 4.0, submit a bug report (SharpCap will prompt you to send a report if something goes badly wrong). Every report we receive now helps us find and fix bugs before the final release.

There's an important new button on the toolbar in SharpCap 4.0 - 'Live View'. When Live View is enabled, SharpCap runs the camera like a video camera, taking images all the time. That's how SharpCap has worked up to now. When Live View is disabled, SharpCap runs the camera like a still camera - only taking images on request, such as when you press the 'Snapshot' button. Turning off Live View is helpful when using cameras that take a long time to transfer the image to the PC, like DSLR cameras (via the ASCOM.DSLR driver) or high resolution CCD cameras. You can download, install and try out SharpCap 4.0 here : www.sharpcap.co.uk/.../sharpcap-downloads/4-0-beta

I have just renewed my Sharpcap Pro licence and got 14 months for the price of 12. Looks to be for existing customers not new licences.
