Had the 200 f4 newt out for the first time in quite a while tonight. Here are a couple of images on the zwo 294. I added an orion .8 focal reducer which is meant for refractors . This would have taken the f4 to f3.2. Plenty of coma and vignetting but ok in the centre ngc 253 15sec x 12 helix 15sec x 12 Grus quartet 15sec x 12 ngc 6744 30sec x 10 The Rasa with the 290 got more detail with 10sec x 18 stack Last night ,I used the lx90. Still cant get decent images. Very frustrating cheers Paul

Strange that there's no colour Paul, but the detail is still nice.

Yeah Ken. I have never been able to get much colour out of the 294. The night before, I used the 294 on the Lx90 and got neither detail nor colour. The Esprit 80 brings out the colour much better but the objects need to be big for the esprit/294 combination
I need a focal length of 800 for the smaller dso's so they dont look so tiny onscreen with the 294. That's why I keep trying with the lx90.I can get focal lengths of 800 and about 1300, but the quality of the images is really poor. There is severe coma and vignetting.
The 200 f4 newt seems to be my best bet. Next time ,I will keep it at f4 rather than trying to make a fast scope faster with the Orion .8 focal reducer. It was designed for refractors so that probably doesnt help.
My best combination for galaxies and other small objects is still the zwo 290 mono with the Rasa cheers Paul

Here are the same images again with the 294 0n the rasa last night. They are all about 10sec x 18 stacks. ngc 253 Helix grus quartet ngc 6744
didnt get any more detail than the newt. The rasa and zwo 290 mono combination for galaxies seems to work best for me. The 294 on the 200 f4 newt works ok but if I want colour ,then the Esprit 80 refractor seems to work best My lx90 has been relegated once again for visual. I have spent so much money on new focal reducers and filters etc to get some half decent imges on the lx90,but no go. cheers Paul

Not sure why I posted these. The results were all a bit ordinary . I wont be upset if you give me a few tips. cheers Paul

The detail is nice Paul, but the sky colours are weird Is it caused by different light pollution in different directions?

dont know Ken. I have to be more selective on what camera goes with what scope. I have the Rasa 8 filter which I very rarely use. I would rather just use the 290 on the rasa and use it for the dim galaxies without any filters.I really enjoy that. I will use the color cameras on the newts and the refractors and will use filters particularlythe optolong l-enhance when there is a lot of light around. cheers Paul

Paul, may I suggest . . . go into your Live colour balance setting and slightly lower the red channel and then lower the blue channel about one quarter of how much you lowered the Red.
Or if you have the option (most don't) slightly raise the green channel.
When I look at your images the Green channel seems too low, and the red may be a tiny tad too high. Blue may be OK.

Yeah Ken. The green was very much to the left and I moved it up to pull the histogram together and it still ended up like that. I wasnt on the game at all. Good advice .Thanks
Next time I will get the Esprit out and see what I can do with the color.
cheers Paul
