My new grab and go setup. The Evostar 72 on the Star Discovery Alt /az mount. ASIair to ZWO 224 and wifi to Ipad. Have only used the ASIair in the daylight with trees so far and works well. Good to have a grab and go system where a laptop is not needed. cheers Paul

Looks good Paul. Those little 72ED Evostars are selling like Hot Cakes all around the world. Skywatcher hit on a top little scope with that one.

That is a sinister avatar ,Davy. Why have your post numbers gone from over 4000 to 6? The image of my grab n go was dark so I took this one in daylight. I was hoping to get some images tonight using this system as skies cleared at 5pm. No go ...total cloud out. cheers Paul

Looking good Paul. A couple of us took a chance and viewed by camera tonight too. Bloody Freezing as it sunk below zero degrees Mike (SVAA member) tried out his new Skywatcher ST 120 f/5 but the Moon made it extremely hard. Still, was a good night considering the freezing temperature, the thick fog, the near full Moon, and the Burn-off smoke.

Went to friends house for dinner tonight. They suggested I bring one of my telescopes.I took the Evostar 72 but decided to leave the .6 FR at home as the stars were a bit bloated on last nights images. Well, could not bring the 224 to focus at all.Needed an extension. The whole show was a disaster but everyone had a great time joking about my astrophotography skills. cheers Paul

Been in that scenario a lot of times,, jumping from the zwo 178 to my DSLR on the ed80,,. Have a small plastic drawer unit with my kit in now saves me hunting all over for kit.

Took the Evostar 72ED in the plane to Mooloolaba recently for a week's holiday. Set it up on the 7th floor balcony of the apartment. Nights were beautiful and clear but far too much light and couldnt get any more than 60 degrees alt so it was a bit of a non event. I was pretty happy with size and weight of the whole system though. Round about 6 kg in total with the SW AZ-GTI mount . You have some great weather up there Howie for the middle of Winter. Dont know how you put up with Scottish winters Davy. Zero degrees is enough to freeze the goulies here in Victoria cheers Paul

I'm mucking around with my old ASI224 and ST80 on the Star Adventurer at the moment and have some filters to try out with the aim to hopefully get some viewing from the LP backyard. Been fun. Everyone who has the ED72 in the astro club love it. I imagine you'll get great use of yours not only for travel but use down South at home. Cheers Paul

The ED72 will mainly be a grab and go scope, Howie. I need to get out and use the other stuff at home. I have loan out my ST80 to a friend. It used to be a finder scope on my lx90 in the pod. I used to get better images on that little scope than I did on the lx90. I think it might even be a bit lighter than the ED72 . cheers Paul
