...the more I think about it with the Lodestar or Infinity (think they both use the same sensor).... The Ultrastar and Infinity use the same sensor, 6.45µm pixel (1392x1040). The Lodestar X2 is 8.2µm x 8.4µm pixel (752x580)

The Lodestar X2 is 8.2µm x 8.4µm pixel (752x580) Thanks Robert. Sorry, that's just my old age showing up confusing the Lodestar with Ultrastar! LOL. I've said this before on this forum and that is I have always been impressed with the Ultrastar and both yours and Don Rudny's (of White Mountain Skies NSN broadcasts) images with it. Don often shows bits of the Starlight Live software while he does his show and that also is impressive software. Not as simple to use as the Infinity software but certainly more features than the Infinity software. Cheers (a PS for Chris who seems to like encouraging me to spend ... yup I know Bintel has the Infinity marked down to $AUS1600 at the moment. LOL) (a PS for davy too ... I think I now understand why you buy so much stuff for your kit ... so much overcast or windy or foggy or dewy weather here for the past 9 months I am finding myself with nothing else to do other than just cruising forums and looking at tempting stuff to buy especially if its to enable how to get out and setup in the very short periods when there's a gap in the cloud, or lull in the wind ... so I do find myself getting very tempted to buy stuff).

Nuh. Not interested in those 1/2" CCD sensors anymore. But I'd like to see the evostar in action with a nice 1/2 - 1" (or bigger!!!) CMOS sensor.
When it gets cloudy (like the past month or so) I get bored and fiddle with stuff. Pulled apart my newt, cleaned the mirror, put in tighter springs (thanks to Alex about that). Stripped my mount and re-greased it. And nearly finished putting stepper motors on my EQ5 mount (I'm terrible at metal work), belt drive and putting Arduino Goto on it.

A few people on IIS have got it. Hopefully they'll review it. But it won't be directed to videoastro ...

So as probably seen on my,, don't fall asleep on eBay post. I've now bought the skywatcher evostar 72 Rd telescope,, was watching and waiting on these coming back into stock before buying one,, I hesitated when they came out,, checking any information available and watching for reviews,, and next thing,,, they were out of stock in the UK,,, I think personally they only sent UK a dozen,😂. So I just bought bit the bullet and will sit and wait on its back order arrival,, mine is coming from rother valley optics,, bought a few times from them,, but I usually buy my big stuff from first light optics,, to was a couple of quid cheaper,, Looking forward to this scope coming,, should sit nice on the skywatcher az gti as a grab n go,, but will really come into play on the heq5 dual scope set up with the ed80,,,

Unfortunately Ken, I have foot surgery on Friday so The Review will be a bit late. I will say this. The Scope as supplied is bare bones, what you see is what you get. It's just a Basic Telescope , there are no adapters or diagonal , the focuser is 2". There is a finder scope mount but no finder scope. I would not recommend this to some one just starting out and wanting to use it solely for visual use. The case is well made and has plenty of room for accessories. As I wrote in my previous post this is my my travel scope for EAA,and suits my needs perfectly. As Big Kev would say "I'm exited!!!!".

. . . The sensor distance is approximately 100mm from the end of the tube. Thanks Martin. "100mm from the end of the tube" Is that without a focal reducer?

No reducer Ken so it could be quite a long image train. I have it a try out on visual last night, and was very impressed.

Using a reducer would shorten the image train. A Barlow would lengthen it. Glad to hear it is impressive
