Just wondering if anyone has a DA Drive Kit for a SkyWatcher EQ5, that's no longer needed? I've bought a Skywatcher 200mm FL1000mm, but the mount has only manual tracking.

That's funny, I am after one too for an old EQ5 the club owns. I ruined it by accidentally powering it with 12 volts instead of 6 Even though they aren't too expensive new it would be nice to find second-hand A new one is $259 from Steve's 'MyAstroShop' www.myastroshop.com.au/products/details.asp?id=MAS-022E2

They don't seem to come up second hand very often. I just got a second hand EQ5 pro that has the motors, but no hand controller. I'm butchering it for a DIY goto.
So wouldn't be much help to you. I'm gradually building a DIY version - but that would probably cost about $150 to build. Ken - what bit blew up? The steppers or the controller - I'm surprised that was enough to kill them

The Steppers blew Chris. One of our Club members is a bit of an electronics buff and he tested it all with his testers, and the Hand controller is still fine, but the motors are dead. Which seems weird to me. I would have thought something in the Hand Controller would have burnt out.

That is weird. I'd send you the ones from my EQ5pro but they are different to the tin cans on the EQ5. I'll have a look and see if I can find what type they are - there might be a cheap replacement?

Thanks Chris, but I will probably have to buy replacement motors because Skywatcher ones have little brackets built into them so they bolt right up to the mount. But it would be good if you do find an alternative

I see what you mean about the built in bracket. That's a good way to make repairs expsensive
