Ordered one of these today,, been pretty impressed with the technology, it's built into my skywatcher az gti and I think it's great. I fitted the synscan hand controller to the az gti to try and get a comparison on what worked best and to be honest after testing both ,, I would sell the hand controller.. The app on the phone, tablet or in my case ,, on my car's head unit is so much better, faster to use I give it a ten out of ten.
As per the above video review by Martin pyott there are issues with the app freezing due to battery life,, I have mine via cigarette lighter plug and cable from car,, only other problem was my camfi wireless system wants to grab the synscan connection,, but if you aren't using any other wifi equipment there isn't a problem,, that I've found yet.
I can use this unit on the heq5 and my allview mount ,, so for the price I'm impressed by the tech,,
I have used a Bluetooth module before and it was very buggy and had it linked to eqmod ,, I think the skywatcher app will get used more than eqmod now to be honest this will free up computer for camera control.

It is good little unit for my HEQ5. I have the Orion Starseek Wifi for the Celestron and Meade scopes as well. Both work well. Orion Starseek is massive compared to the Synscan and attaches to the Hand controller which just adds to the cabling complexity. The synscan is powered by the HEQ5 whereas the Orion needs either battery or a 12V supply and there is a huge price difference. Havent tested the range of the Synscan Paul

Hi folks,, Christmas day and had to come over to the flat,, our Christmas chef for today,,, carol,, made a backside of it,, told her to cook the ham during the night,, because we have an elephant disguised as a turkey to cook,, so yours truly ,up early and away to get a power top up for the flat,, Davy is now cooking the ham joint in his flat,, giving it Gordon Ramsay pelters to Carol. Back to the review 😀
Well is this no the best thing since sliced bread. Plug in to hand control rj45 port on heq5 put the wifi on ( smartphone) enable position to located via app/phone. Press connect,, job done
OK it's Christmas day at 09.20 so I'm no going to do star alignment but done it on the az gti with Same app and it's a doddle.
You need the pro version of the app for eq mount. The slewing around is VERY responsive no lag,, This is a must have bit of kit,, Outreach this will be brilliant
One suggestion,, bin the hand controller if you still use it,, this is the future. Works brilliant

If anyone is interested in getting one,, download the app to a smartphone or tablet and check out the features... I just love this, The handset has been the weak point in the goto mounts,,. If you had a wired screen touch pad to do this year's ago you would be very happy, but I found that the eqmod was the upgrade for me as I hated the original hand controller,, I did use the eqtooth Bluetooth adapter years ago but it was hard work connecting it to the eqmod and CDC,, ended up with the hitecastro cable and was perfect. But I can't stop raving on how good this is,,has a point function ..move your phone and telescope moves ,ok needs set up correctly but i think if you put Google maps on as well you good have good fun visually with a live view camera.

Just watched the video. Yep, the whole full ONE HOUR of it and apart from almost falling asleep several times it seems like a good product. I might actually consider getting one
