That is cool Davy.
I am familiar with Alain's videos. But what I don't understand is how he gets the sky and DSO's to move 'Live' when the more sensitive 224 can't do it.
That is how I would like to be able to do my Video Astronomy. Absolutely 'Live' but be able to see the DSO's like Alain shows. I haven't been able to do it with any of the 224's I have.

Know what you mean ken , no star trails when tracking on the video and nice round stars,. You can see on one of his videos that he hits the gain slider and it must up the intregration or something,, watched all his videos and subscribed to his channel

That's about 13x exposure advantage compared to an f/5 scope. So he can use short exposures (as he says - 1/4s to 1/6s). i use short exposures (<1s) when I'm focussing using the Bahtinov and the stars move pretty much the same as his. The problem, as I see it, is that with that objective all you are going to see is stars.

Sounds like a target of the month - video of a couple of DSOS. Or a thread for videos.
If we bang our heads together surely we can come up with some parameters. Sharpcap had some nice tricks to boost and do sub-stacking - kind of like the analogs. I imagine other software has similar ?

Ken, Link below to one of your (and my) mates (?) from CN. The first post he states he was using C8 @ f/4 with Orion LP filter using 1-2 sec exposures. The second is the live video he shot using that combo and you can see his settings) and the star trails (although no neb trails) as he slews using those 1-2 sec frames. But given you 'see' star trails as he leaves the ring neb theres no doubt if he had only done a small HC button movement that the ring would itself have reappeared within a second or so. www.cloudynights.com/topic/555623-live-video-with-asi224/and ...

Thanks Howie, I am familiar with that thread in CN and Hiten's claims about his 'Live' views. But, they aren't live like Alain's which is the target myself and other people are after. I have a video showing the exact same as Hiten's jerky results and mine was done with a humble Sammy: and this one from my Revolution Imager R1 (LN-300) My goal, and many others, is to be able to show coloured detailed views 'absolute Live', as instant as Night Vision. No jerky

Ken, yes the Sammy continues to amaze! I forgot that vid of yours. I remember first seeing that after I'd already committed and spent much bigger $ on my first Mallincam. Doh!

He did a video with the uncooled version. Looks pretty bad Hmmm . . . interesting. That one is sped up to look 'Live' but it looks waayyyy faster than Live, especially when slewing, so that trick backfired I agree John, it doesn't look as good as the others he has in You Tube. Very noisy and grainy. I now wonder if all his videos are sped up to look more 'Live'
