I think it will be great once they get a manual out to know how everything is supposed to work. One interesting thing that I didn't know has to do with frame rates that are limited in Sharpcap by default. Different cameras have different results so he stuck it in the middle as a safe bet. So you adjust the settings based on your camera to achieve the highest frame rates (some you increase the setting for faster rates and some you decrease for faster rates): forums.sharpcap.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=10My ZWO camera was lucky to get 20-40 frames/sec when it should be able to get much higher frame rates. I assumed it was due to my computer but now that I know there's a setting for it, I'll try that next time I do a planetary/moon image.

I've been having a lot of trouble getting it to stack lately. Not detecting stars -and it's changes even on one target. Tried all sorts of thresholds !!
It seems to happen when the background is bright. I'm having to go to cutoffs of over 0.9 and it gets really sensitive to the level. I suppose I should save some files and try stacking with AT.

I've seen a similar problem reported if you adjusted the gamma. Most recommend leaving it at the default, which I believe is 50. I haven't really been using it since I got the Starlight Xpress cameras.

Sharpcap is going to change a bit over the month or so. A Pro version is going to be introduced. It will require a licence to run it which will be ~10 pounds a year. This version will have dark subtraction, an improved polar alignment. A more basic version will still be free, but I'm not sure of all the details. See: www.sharpcap.co.uk/sharpcap/premium

Cheers for the info Chris,, we Had a good run with it being free for years,, chap must spend a bit of time doing it so if folk want to use pro version he can maybe cover some costs ,ten pounds a year is pretty reasonable

Interesting.
Imagine the time Patrick Chevalley puts into Cartes du Ciel and Virtual Moon Atlas! and he leaves them all free to use. In his own words: "I’d rather see amateurs spend their money for a new eyepiece than for astronomy software".
Same with many other software developers.
I don't mind paying for software if it does what I want. Software like Miloslick is well worth its price. But it won't affect me because I'm not really a fan of Sharpcap anyway.

Which Revolution Dave? For the RI1-a, RI1-b and R2, I use Miloslick. For the R-224, I use Toupsky or RisingSky (both the same software, just different names)
