First go with my 8" F5 newt, second with the ASI072. I think I collimated the newt properly (haven't used one before) - might start another to to ask the best way to do/check this. Sorry, the usual targets - but trying to sort this gear out. Eta Carina. 2x 30sec Tarantula 6x 30sec M42 7x 8sec M42

I'm not a Newt expert, but I think your collimation is good - look at those stars.
In M42 I think you hit the right exposure/stack combo to get detail in the core and also the extended cloud. That's a real nice capture.
Is there vertical banding that I'm seeing? Or is that an artifact of image compression?

Yip I agree with rick , collimation looks good, smack bang centre on the stars by looks if it,, looks like internal camera noise,, I used to get bad banding on my Samsung, coaxial cable was at fault, good cable sorted it out,, maybe worth trying another cable,,but I suspect camera noise,, how long was the camera on for these shots,, maybe try a cooling mod,, Martin pyott has a tutorial on utube for cooling zwo cameras

Yes. There's banding and stuff from compressing the pics. I usually save as fits (20mb with this camera and that's X2 binning) or pngs (8mb). Weird things happen when I change to jpgs.
Thanks about the collimation. I also used the baader coma corrector. The big newt swinging around with the camera on top is a bit scary after using my tiny refractor for the past year !
