That is one big Roo. Swedish cars were once popular as being more safe, they had to withstand a collision with an elk. On the odd occasion that our trains collide with things it is amazing how much damage something much smaller than the train does to it.
I sometimes wonder how poeple who emigrate to Australia cope with the different wildlife, we don't have dangerous creatures here.

ken, that beast looks massive, and these spikey toes look dangerous. we have herds of deer up north, some individuals have caused serious accidents, about 40 years ago i came upon a herd which were foraging at waste bins at a layby in a blizard between fort william and rannoch moor, luckily i was going slow and the nearby ones scrambled clear into the ditch and snow.the rest stood their ground, protecting their food source. john

Harry, we only have about 120 different dangerous beasties here in Oz. Not many. Don't be afraid to visit

I grew up on a farm out in the sticks, so I know the good and the bad of our wildlife. The Oz wildlife won't be as threatening to someone who grew up there, especially in the countryside. But to emigrate later in life some encounters with the down under wildlife could be quite scary. There is a series on TV here where UK people go out to Oz and deal with wildlife. In one episode a wimp went out with the Barefoot Bushman, (wading into a Crocodile infested lake) and in another a UK Pest Controller went to catch a Tarantula, they both looked pretty scared to me.
I owe my interest in Bushcraft/Survival to Les Hiddins, his Bush Tucker Man series was brilliant. I now watch Ray Mears, one of the best series was one he did Down Under meeting Les on his travels.

He is a male Eastern Grey Kangaroo. They are the ones that live all around me, by the hundreds of thousands but most are smaller than that one. The really big ones are Red Kangaroos. Herds of them? Yep, and they don't always move when you drive up on them Check out this cheeky fellow: and don't think that they are all out in the country. Welcome to the suburbs:

LOL, how do you think I got on, I moved the bed away from the wall and I checked the bedding every night just to make sure nothing kept me company me while i was asleep. A couple of days later we went round to her cousins house and I was just about to sit down on the patio chair in the back yard and her cousin shouted at me 'don't sit down yet ', she got a broom handle and took the cushions off and started to hit the chair frame and a couple of the pesky creepy buggers fell out, I said, 'sod that' I'll stand
