Been raining or cloudy since last outing 3rd Sept, but finally cleared tonight. Coma with the f/5 newt has gradually eaten into me! Never used to worry me, but finally did! LOL. Just bought a Baader MPCC coma corrector so just had to go test it out for a couple of hours on the trusty ol Canon 650d and Skywatcher HEQ5 PRO and 200p newt. Mostly star fields to test the roundness at the edges of the frames, but a few other goodies in the images taken. 13 Celsius and very clear conditions. Hope you enjoy the images. The image names contain the ISO (the number following the "i"), the sec exposure (the number following the "s") and the number stacked (the number following the "x"). All the images are in the flickr link below ... but just below that there's a teaser image I managed to upload to the post - click it to enlarge and see a bit of the detail. I unfortunately clipped too much detail out of the veil neb ... but heck it was a fun evening. Anyway, the flickr link contains all the images. flic.kr/s/aHskKajM4T

Yes Davy ... but I also suspect you will simplify in the end. I understand your aim ... bad skies mean multiple cams in each of that 'array' to grab what you can in the short gap between clouds! While I'd love to take a jab at Scottish weather LOL, I can't, as Aussie had it's wettest Winter and rain, clouds and now flooding since records began Winter where I live used to be dry, crunching grass when you walked on it and crystal clear nights every night. Now it's rain and cloud except for a couple of good nights which usually coincide with full Moon. And the grass is emerald green and soft underfoot. But yes I started with 200p with an Orion ST80 on top, both holding cams, and then also a finder-guider with SSAG and a red dot finder on top of that ... not for your reasons ... but to be able to grab different sized objects at diff magnification with diff cam/scopes ... like M57 is tiny in the 200P/DSLR but twice as big in the ST80/VSS+. At the time, I didn't know about using the DSLR live view to shoot planets, so the VSS+ also came in handy for that when fitted to the 200p. And I used a finder-guider SSAG and a RDF back then. But the real killer for me was I found that running multiple pc's and cams and capture software, something ALWAYS doesnt 'fire-up'. Or worse, stops working unannounced midway through a session. Plus lugging all the kit with a bad back! I ended up spending 90% of my time setting it all up, and diagnosing all the issues. That's why now its just the mount, the 200p Newt, and the Canon. No eyepieces, no finderscope, no guiders. All cables just left plugged in ready to go. DSLR left in the focuser at the focal point. So now I spend 20 minutes setting up and 3 hours EAA'ing with absolutely no tech probs. KISS approach. I am interested to see how you go with your setup, and to see if you end up eventually simplifying too? You may crack it and have no probs. Onya Davy! But if you do have probs mate, been there done that ... just ask away and maybe I can help out. cheers and also PS ... yes that's one image in the above post, but the link above the image goes off to the flickr album with 10 other images shot in the 2 or 3 hours I was out. Worth clicking the link to go see the other 10 shots.

This kit will be for my observatory once I build it,the old aviary that was my astronomy shed will be cut up for bonfire wood this year and ground work done,, concrete base slab,, went through a few designs for observatory, might just build it from scratch.. portable set I have decided to put the st102 on with the 200pd and use the ed80/canon 600d/allview mount with byeos as portable kit this year, will prob keep allview mount in car,and it just leaves me to carry tough book, camera and scope.

Nice pics. I've got my first clear night in ages tonight !
But we're taking my daughter out for dinner. Her 23rd birthday.
Well. There's always tomorrow. And I'll get to share a seafood platter with her !!
