Good stuff davy. At least you went to the effort of colour matching to fit in. I'm sure there would be some who wouldn't bother taking that extra bit of effort. Have a great day, and enjoy it

Got to be honest ken ,,no the nicest of colours,,think they picked it in the dark..I was offered kit from them, but im not joining the band and if I left its a bit of a jaunt just to jand kit back,so I spent about £20 buying my own kit.I have my own clan kilt and all the associated dress, couple of different sporrans ,sock flashes,,then drum slings, tenor drum sticks and bass drum sticks, drum keys and drum tuner,,few bands ive went to ive struggled to get kit that fits,,so if I get a kilt off them im happy, priced a new kilt the other night £550 ,a decent full kit will set you back a £1000,.
The gala day went well, hardly had a break on another longish march, constantly playing ,and had some more tunes ive not played before just to top it off,,used a soft harness today on bass drum ,,never used one before,,liked that big time ,,not having to fight drum all the time,,another hot day, sweat running off me,,started to rain as we were leaving so happy I wasn't soaked as well.

Next guest appearance in a fortnight,,taking a week off.. couple of gala days ive said I will do and the stirling highland games,,and take it from there,,might get a invite to play at the isle of arran in august ,then hang up the sticks till remembrance sunday..taking carols grandson down to kilsyth pipe band on Wednesday night for my mate to teach him the pipes,,can see a bit of bartering going to happen here lol,,he used to teach me drumming till I got good and ended up teaching,,he is teaching a couple of kids tenor drumming just now so I can see I might get asked to help instead of just sitting about doing nothing while carols grandson gets his lesson,,,so much for retirement from the bands,,busier now than I was...the joys,,got good feedback from new band,,im a good bass drummer lol..think there desperate :-)

The best part Davy is that now you have sort of retired from Band, you can pick and choose when you play and who for.

Thanks, ken, rick,, yeah it's good helping out the bands,,if I were signed for a band, you feel you cant offer too much help but being freelance ,I can help whoever I want,,there's no losers, the way isee it.
