Well, I gave it a try tonight to catch a glimpse of Comet 252P/Linear with the 350d DSLR. Tonight is the Comets closest approach to Earth! It is invisible naked eye thanks to the Moon at 99.2%, but it can just slightly be seen in my photo (if you try very very very very very hard) Object: Comet 252/P Linear, in Constellation Ara, When: 11:30pm 22nd March 2016, Location: Snake Valley, Australia, Camera: Canon 350d, 30 seconds @ iso 800, 18~55mm Lens @ 18mm. Full Field: Cropped: Close up:

Nice sky pic, nice tight stars, foreground in good focus, but sorry I don't see the comet. Very tough conditions for such a faint object with nearly a full moon.

Thanks Rick and Davy. As the Moon wanes and the comet should become easier to see, it moves into the glow of the Milky Way By the time it comes out the other side of the Milky Way it will be a lot less bright!
