Using a 6" f/8 refractor... I bought a used Extreme and the .33x mf5r reducer. Will that be enough? Or should I buy a stronger reducer? Is stacking reducers effective or does it distort the image?

Nick, I have had limited experience with stacking reducers - really I've only done it with the Mallincam MFR-5. The MFR-5 has two difference focal reduction elements and a couple of spacers. The total focal reduction that can be achieved is in the neighborhood of 50% with one element providing a 70% and the other an 80% reduction. Spacers also play a role as well. From a field of view perspective, you're native scope is 152mm x 8 or 1216mm. That's too narrow for a lot of nebulae. I recommend you play with a Field of View Calculator website that also shows relative object size, like www.skyatnightmagazine.com/field-view-calculatorPlay around with different focal reduction settings while seeing how big the objects you are going after would look.

So focal reducers: Change magnification, Change image size, Change the integration time (shorten).
Yes?

I gave up trying to stack Focal Reducers All the combinations I tried caused Vignetting or Coma, or wouldn't focus, artifacts, inner reflections, and every possible optical effect you can imagine Good luck!

I've been trying stacking. It's a problem. And I've been doing 0.63 & 0.5s. They are difficult to get focus.
You've got a 0.3 which is a lot already !!
