Hi Guys, Here are a few images taken at CAV using my Lodestar X2 mono & LL in my 110mm f7 at f7 on an AVX mount. Had to stick to short exposures due to tracking issues, ground was very wet from rain and mount was sinking into it throwing off PA. Very warm and humid, with typical Florida summer dew raining down. These are unguided images with no post processing. Richard

You've done well Richard.
Terrific results. Why are NGC253 and the Veil noisy when the others aren't?

Fantastic results, Richard! What stacking program did you use?

You've done well Richard. Terrific results. Why are NGC253 and the Veil noisy when the others aren't? Was shooting thru a lot of moisture, high clouds on these two images. No dark frames either and was towards the end of the night, I got lazy and did not play with histogram.

Fantastic results, Richard! What stacking program did you use? Thanks Rick. Just using Loadstar Live, it will automatically stack images in 3 modes (my choice) Mean, Median, and sum. Mean just reduces noise, adds very little to the image, median I don't use. Sum adds to the image, making each stack brighter. I use mean stacking 90% of the time, gives the cleanest image. Only on faint stuff or in poor conditions do I use sum. In other words mean just does what most video camera's do with in camera stacking.

When I usually get near the end of a night, by about 4am, I can't be bothered improving views either. I just want my head on a pillow
