Hi,
i'll soon try this method to save/grab live video from my videoastronomy equipment:
I've bought an (hybrid) nvr that can be power up by a 12v dc adapter. Those one used for videosurveillance purposes...
This recorder has an integrated 10" lcd display so I can view and record the video into an internal h.d. After the recording session you can backup the video (avi format) into an usb key and play into a p.c. (the video files are automatically divided into short clips for easy processing...)
I Think is a good alternative to the standard setup (p.c. with a grabber.) Less software, less cable and less usb dongle escaping from the usb port....

Hi paolo. I am on the same track as yourself. .what I have is similar. . I have the portable multi camera array 12v 22amp golf cart battery fitted into a large plastic toolbox, this powers my 12v 4 channel 1.5 tb dvr ..inside the tool box lid is a 12v 15" monitor.. I have It all rigged up so it runs 2 box cams and a all sky type dome camera controlled via utc controllers i have dc feed for my eq3/2 mount and a camera fitted to an ed80 as well .. welcome to portable av davy
