Had a really busy week last week..first pipeband competition was on Saturday. .leading up to it has been a nightmare..side drummers down to a tutor and two learners, new bass drummer only started three weeks ago, but is a world champion drummer and myself in baritone tenor drum..new bass drum has been ordered but no sign of it coming soon..and of course the bass were using lost all its tone and started vibrating all over the place on friday night..tuning wouldn't sort it out..stripped an older drum to fit skins to it..wrong ones..took our bass home and syripped it at 10am Saturday mornings and found the dampening had became unsecured on skins..quick repairs and retuned..could only get decent tone on left hand skin.. at venue for one..told bass drummer to turn bass upside down and play left side of drum with right hand.. played at 2.45..five bands competing in our grade..up against good bands and this was our bands first competition in four years.... we came third..was over the moon was as good as first for me..what a weekend..was mentally exhausted on Sunday. .all to do again in two weeks
