Thanks for the words of support guys it means a lot to me ,the last 12hrs have been some of the most painful of my life but the strength my dad has shown for the last month after being told he only had a short time left gives me strength, he refused further treatment and blood transfusions after being told the leukemia was beyond treatment and requested to come home and spend his short time at home with family, his local doctor praised his spirit and determination to lead as normal a live as possible his body deteriorated from Saturday but his mind and will remained strong. .during the last month I spent many an hour talking and getting closer to him and often wondered how he could hold it together and where he drew his strength from, my dad was not a religious man but he told me he had a vivid dream that he was sitting talking to his deceased mother and brothers and sisters he could not recall what was said and was a bit scared, I told him maybe this was a sign and that they came to him to reassure him of ahead of his passing away..when it's my time I hope I have the same dream..davy

Hi guy's. .dad's funeral went off brilliantly, we had a total weather change for the day, started off with frost on the cars and turned into a glorious summer day.. the big man was looking out for us.. Funeral parlour service was packed full of relations and friends, my 15yr old nephew read the poem ..he did not die... he was amazing, I said a few words myself. at the cemetery my pipe major and I led the funeral procession in highland dress to a pipers lament..Highland cathedral was played carrying my dad to his resting place..and amazing grace to the end of the service.. we all done my dad proud..what a send off.. the lament that was played was composed by my pipe major and he named it.. mcleans lament... totally speechless. ..by this act of generosity. . Rip dad. Gone but not forgotten.

Great to hear Davy... my Dad's was similar... frost and chilly, but when we went to the grave site, the sun broke thru for a beautiful, if sad, day.

thanks Arthur. went to dad's grave today with the family to lay a plaque to mark his grave this afternoon,we just don't have two thousand pounds to buy a headstone for him just now. I made the plaque myself, had a few worried looks when I said I would make one, but I had an idea and would not embarrass my dad or myself with something cheap and nasty looking. I have a craft robo vinyl cutter and I bought a diamond tipped engraving tool for it.. I bought a 12" x 8" trophy sheet plate and designed the clan mclean badge in software and made it a cnc format I then done the tribute and dates ect and designed the royal british legion in cnc format as well, took me three tries to perfect it. I then got a paving slab that looked like chipped slate cleaned it up and mounted the dedication plaque to it..i then sealed the grey slab with laquer ..three coats, this darkened the slab and now has a look of shined coal. it looks fantastic and better than any I had looked at to buy..
