I was wondering if it was possible To use a meade autostar on an eq mount I had a skywatcher now gathering dust on eq2 And now with the meade I were thinking Upgrade to a better eq mount and I've got more Scope and weight capability to be able to play with And would be nice with the goto of meade autostar
Thanks si

Kinda lost me a bit si. autostar as in the software.. Skywatcher mount Goto eq3/2 pro ..eq5..eq6.. Im shure the software isnt compatible az to eq I have used stellarium software with the meade etx80 and skywatcher eq3/2 pro with no problems I now use the eq3/2 goto with cartes de ciel software I use this in conjunction with the eq mod and its wireless linked by eqtooth (bluetooth) to my computer

I would recommend looking to where you want to be in a years time with av..for me a few things changed , I got my own flat but done my astronomy from my partners back garden, I made an astronomy shed to house and use my kit and was going great but my partner became ill and more ill and less mobile so my shed got made into an avairy..my flat has heavy light pollution and a nightmare to pick up stars ect..I have came up with the portable array for going mobile quickly..a lot changes quickly.. one scope that took my eye is the skywatcher virtuossa scope ..cheap and very adaptable

yes your right situations do change similar reasons i took up astronomy seperation and moving into my own flat so more time on my hands. being in a country location tho light pollutions not too bad. and well i did make, a few quick decisions, on the first scopes ive bought i do like them.but being artistic, soon realised i wanted pictures. anyway i will see how i do go on once the weather calms down here. and get some hours in using the sammy cameras and see how i go thanks davy

I just motorized an old manual EQ mount with a few spare Meade LX200 GPS parts. Here's a photo or the old mount set up in my observatory before I started. www.mts.net/~lmlod/Observatory_html_files/149.jpgIt works with the Meade Autostar II handset I just have to make an RS-232 cable to connect it to one of the computers. It's used to put out a streetlight. You can't get any more astronomically related than that. LdB

Look for a used Celestron AVX... I'm starting to see them show up on the market.
