I'm looking for a quick way of simply selecting a whole bunch of video files, press a button and the software automatically stitches all of them in to one long video. I've tried it with Windows Movie Maker, but it wants me to import each video one at a time then individually drag them to the time line. With 42 video to stitch together from just one nights meteor imaging, I want something much simpler.
Any ideas (preferable free or uber cheap)?

Have a look at "Virtual Dub" Michael, It has tools for editing video streams. It can probably join them as well, and its free.
42 files from one night, you must be doing something right.

I've never heard of an automatic video stitcher but that doesn't mean one doesn't exist.
I use Windows Movie Maker regularly and sometimes edit 60 - 80 video sections together. It's a breeze once you know how to do it quickly.
I import all the video at the same time so I am only doing one single upload to Windows Movie maker.
Then I just drag and drop onto the timeline.
But because I make mine into tutorials or entertainment, I have to spend many hours blending, cutting, using transitions, adding music and attempting to edit to the beat of the music etc. You wouldn't necessarily need to do that. Just drop and drag the meteor videos. Should only take about 1 minute to upload the videos and 1 minute to drop and drag 42 video segments.
2 minutes and the job's done.

Finally found one that works - Video to Video converter. www.videotovideo.org/It has multiple input and output formats and can convert format and join all in one operation. ... Oh, and it's free.
