..so how easy is it to get into video astronomy. ..very easy compared to astrophotography. . By looking on here I shall asume you have a telescope or are thinking of getting one...what kind..I would recommend a refractor for simplicity, an 80mm is a good middle of the road sized scope and can be picked up cheap on ebay..skywatcher or celestron are the makes advised if your new to astronomy..mount/tripod...most important part, the mount does not need to be a goto (computer or handset controlled) but it is advisable to have a tracking motor (to follow the target you wish to image) as the earth rotates. Without tracking its very tiring trying to track an object steadily..camera... cctv modded camera with a low lux level with integration (sense up) or a astrovideo retail camera..
.you will need a nose cone adapter ( c to 1.25) or possibly ( c to t) you may want to fit an infra red astronomy filter or a light pollution filter to the end of the nosecone...power supply is usually 12volts dc (power pack/ mains to 12v adapter/car battery) .......video output from camera...bnc connector to coxial or rca connector this can be linked direct to a tv or monitor. .if you wished to capture your images...to a computer then a usb video grabber is used and are plugged to cable from camera to pc where you can watch and record at same time.
You could use the camera with a wide angled cctv lens on a fixed tripod and view sections of the sky as the earth rotates on a screen or capture to pc
