Apart from Astronomy in any form, what are your other Hobbies/Interests? Mine are Rugby League, Sketching, Guitar, and Motorcycles. Even though I played Rugby Union as a kid (and was selected to play for Australia at 16) I prefer to watch Rugby League, and i even started a whole Rugby League District and the 3 teams in it! In a state of Australia that doesn't like Rugby League As for my Sketching, I don't do as much as I used to. I like drawing Portraits, and have also had one of my Tarantula Nebula sketches selected as 'Astronomy Sketch of the Day' on ASOD website back in 2007 www.asod.info/?p=106Guitar, yeah, I love playing my Fender Stratocaster with my 2 sons in our band 'Jam Sandwich'. Motorcycles? Hell Yeah!!! They have been a major part of my whole life! As a young kid watching my 'Hells Angels' Uncle and 'Cossacks MC' cousin roar around with their mates. I knew I had to do that when I grew up. And I did! Even at 56 years old I am still doing it Here's a few pics to show my Hobbies/Interests: First, one of my sketches of my son when he was little. Second, me and my Sons playing a Gig. Thirdly, my latest Bike, Harley-Davidson Road King.

Wow Ken thats a very interesting life you lead :)Played rugby for your country...thats awesome! The sketches are very good mate! i struggle to draw stick men! And it looks like you are a real biker! Think i seen you in sons of anorchy lol! For me my hobbies are: Playing and watching football - I play at least once a week and watch about 3 games a week. Come on the hoops! Poker - Love it! Such a fun game! Theres no better feeling than showing someone you just bluffed your **** off and basically stole thier money I go to Vegas every year and just go all out on the poker front(aslong as im not with a girl they tend not to appreciate leaving them for 12 hours at a time lol). Not stupid money just the low stakes games. I have won i think 13 tournements so far and plan on many more! I play cash games too but the money can get a little scary at times. Biggest pot i have won in one hand was $1200. Biggest loss in one hand was $900. The pressure is insane sometimes! Love it!! Cars - I love cars! Always have! I drive a BMW Z4 (hairdressers car) at the moment and regularly take abuse from the mates about it. I used to love it but its seen better days and lately has just been burning a hole in my wallet. Last year when in the states i hired a Corvette for a week. I dont say this lightly....but that thing was better than sex! 6.3 lt 450bhp super car. Managed to take it up to 170 mph on the motorway one night before i had to slam the anchors on as some twat pulled out infront of me lol. Pretty scary moment I try and hire the best thing i can afford whenever i go on holiday. Playstation - Me and my mates regulary meet up a someones house and get our drink and smoke on while playing the ps3! We love to play either pro evo soccer, Tekken or Call of duty Golf - I try... im not very good but try and play as much as possible. Very fun game. Very frustrating at times too tho And my new hobby.... Video Astronomy!!! Edit: Added a few pics. Heres the winning hand from from a tourney back in april (Pair of 4's lol). And the 5 lt mustang i hired. Plus the yellow death machine i mentioned

Wow Chris, you do a lot of stuff!!!!! Even going to Los Vegas. I've never been outside of Australia. I've never played Playstation either. Video games have never interested me, even as a kid when they first came out! Me, a real Biker? Yeah, I suppose you could say that. I did spend 10 years in an outlaw club. But got tired of it totally taking over my life and got out of it. Now I ride with whoever I want, whenever I want. Not when they say. Next person?

Ken of many talents, good on ya mate, me i'm crap at drawing. a 1yr old can draw better than me. cant play any musical instrument and just about ride a bike. Use to be into cb and ham radio but when we moved she wouldn't let me put any antenna's up so I kicked that into touch but still got my licence. like watching any type of motorsport. Done a few track days also fly rc planes had 5 of them and play on-line gaming use to go to car shows and show my car on a stand for a engine tuner who did my car. I went to vegas 2 years back for a month and spent a shed load of dosh or should I say lost. The other half, jammy cow was £2 short of what she paid for the holiday with her winnings. Attachments:

Boy you guys are busy! Well my other main hobby is radio I am a licenced amateur. The hobby allows me to communicate world wide on the HF bands through VHF. UHF and even microwave. You can transmit in all sorts of modes like voice, Morse and other modes which are digital in which you use the pc to type your message and then its encoded and transmitted through the antenna. My longest distance contact has been Australia using my humble setup. One of my ambitions is to make a contact with the ISS during a pass. They work voice on 145. 800Mhz. The ISS is a challange as the passes are no more than 6 minutes and they only use the radio on their down time, unless they are talking to a school. I have tinkered in radio telescopes with varying success which ties the two hobbies nicely together I also play guitar as well, although left handed Im no Hendrix I also used to fly RC helecopters but that proved to be and expensive pass time. Just read your post Johnno some similar stuff My current spare room,

Hello Guys
Wow you guys you have a great amount of various hobbies amongst you all. Just to say that I retired from the government about 3 years ago after completing 40+ years.
I first started off with shooting rifle and shotgun at the age of 17, also fishing, motorcycle trials riding, karate' just to name a few hobbies. The best hobby before the age of 21, was to take up flying in a Piper Cherokee single engine plane, but this hobby didn't last too long what with flying lessons etc.
I took up amateur radio at the age of 25 and my callsign is GD0BCN. I done a bit of radio from my motorhome here on the island, but transmitted now for over 3 years, must dust the rig down a blow away the cobwebs.
Too many hobbies to mention now, so not going to bore you all.
Best regards, Hadyn - Isle of Man
