Sounds like a drivers prob can you try loading it to an older operating system.

I'm a bit disappointed with the camera, can't seem to get a sharp image, i don't know if its the lens or the camera, the sammy gives a sharper image with the same lens.
I don't fancy ringing France for support, i'll hang out till other people start start putting posts up on the net about the camera.
The latest software just won't start up. when you install a version onto the computer it automatically uninstalls the one whats on the machine, i was hoping when you install a version it would over right the older files. what I might do is to rename the folder so it will 2 versions on and import the files from one version onto the other and see if i then can start up the latest version.

Doesnt sound too good so far man! Kinda sounds like you either need to learn French or return the camera lol. Might be worth a shot just posting some questions in english anyway! The french dudes all learn english in school so prob someone will be able to help.
Seems odd the sammy gives clearer picture with same lens... They both 1/3" but the inova has higher resolution.
So will the cam still not work with sharpcap, firecapture etc even after getting the working drivers?

looks like its the slr lens, First pic with Slr lens, second with ED80. Shooting thru double glazing with a bit of turbulence

Hey John, the shot through the ED80 is very good considering it is shooting through 2 layers of window glass and turbulent air!!! Looks like you are on a winner

I'm glad its not the camera. Am I right in thinking that it do's not matter about the distance from to sensor to the slr lens if I'm using a telephoto one. Only on a fix lens when the distance matters?
I've emailed support centre and just have to see if they will respond. not holding my breathe on this one as I've already emailed a couple of times before and got no reply.
Might have to put a post on SGL as there is a few folk with the mono version which came out earlier on. As this is a new camera it may take a while for folk to buy/ post about it.
All I can think of is that the PLx ascom drivers are flaky.

Interestingly, not all 35mm lenses will comes to a focus using a C to 35mm lens adaptor. I have Pentax, Nikkor, Canon lenses both prime lenses and various zooms, more lenses that you can shake a stick. One day I went through at least 20 lenses testing to see how many came to focus, surprisingly, not all of them did. I have at least 10 various Pentax Super Takumar from 28 mm to 300 mm, not all of them came to focus, just a tad Short, and that is a problem because there is no easy fix, the lens itself needs to get maybe 0.5 mm closer to the CCD/CMOS.
I would suggest that when buying an astro camera, try it out on a telescope first, it has the greatest range of focus travel and that is also how the camera manufacturer intends it to be used. Using 35 mm camera or 6x7 mm lenses as I do from a 6x7 Pentax , is never the makers intention, that is an experimental aside! This is the start of the album on this topic, a lot more to add. picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/mtcSbFNX58gnTEvjkknkbtMTjNZETYmyPJy0liipFm0?feat=directlink picasaweb.google.com/109921669020426367250/Pentax6x7EOSAdaptorCameraLenses?authuser=0&feat=directlink

Thanks Shevill for the links. I thought if the telephoto lens works on the Samsung 2000p ok it would work on the Plx.
I'm not bothered about it as it works ok on the scope, just wanted it for daylight testing only instead of setting up the mount and scope

Glad it works for what you need it for.
Another point to keep in mind, when using mono cameras with telescopes & lenses, an IR blocking filter is very desirable. Light passing through optical systems refracts at different points, unless an apochromatic scope, hopefully 'white light' objects focus at the same point with a lens. However, Infra Red does not, and it is IR that causes the slightly 'fuzzy' effect around stars and daytime images to look not quite sharp. Many folks overlook this point. On camera lenses there used to be an IR red dot marked on the lens and this is where you set the focus to if using IR film.
Clear skies... Shevill

*I should add that any colour camera has a built-in IR blocking filter. On web cams it is often a little square just stuck on the rear of the lens, so if you take off the lens, then you will have a weird effect with colour balance, it won't. Same applies to any colour camera, take off/out the IR blocker and your images will be very pink into the bargain!

Spoken with the importer and sent him copies of the emails I've sent to the manufacturer and he said he will forward them on to the person he's has contact with over there, so hopefully I'm get somewhere with the software issue.

Hi
This camera has me intrigued.
From the specs could it be a really good all rounder? Live view and imaging?
And the price?! Seems like a real bargain.
Can't wait to see some results from it Chris.
