Has anyone looked into IP cameras yet? I am having some issues getting hold of the HD SDI camera I ordered and the company I ordered it from are not giving me answers! Anyway this delay has got me thinking about IP cameras as they seem more readily available and seem offer much better MP with the biggest I've found so far being 16MP! I was thinking if I set one up direct with my home router I don't need a grabber either. I could use some free software that will stream the camera and allow me to control it also. I could then just use Webcam max to frame and broadcast! Is it as simple as I'm describing it or is there as usual much more to it??

Not worried about sense up as I'm only thinking about top notch live views of the Moon and some of the brighter planets. I had great views of Jupiter recently with the SCB-2000 but without sense up that just kills it really. My query is mainly how good the image quality would be when captured this way, is there any latency for example.

Good question I would think fine for planets. It would be pointless if they went to 16mp if they didn't transmit it. That's my thinking anyway?
It may need some mods to get it to scope though.
For broadcasting I think if you can frame a YouTube video live then it should work with the IP cam.

- Why can you not transmit or stream the 16mp? - What mods, I figured you just needed power at the scope and the a data cable direct from the cam to my router? - Could I not just frame the image on my PC with Webcam Max? That said live streaming on You Tube may also be useful?

Here is the issue. IP cams have ZERO control over any function of the camera. Everything is AUTO. I have yet to see any IP cam that allows manual control of shutter, gain, etc. Forget sense up...This is not applicable to any cam other than CCD cctv. For these high MP cameras its planetary only...and IP cams are useless for everything IMO. Manual control is a must and I have never seen one IP cam with this control. Happy hunting Sorry for the rant, just don't wont anyone to waste any cash! Hemmi

While I have you, what's your thoughts on the Phantom Vision 2 Plus? You got me look at drones now!

Sorry you got me wrong I ment it should be able to stream at its mp or it would be pointless if it couldn't
The mods I'm thinking how to attach to scope is it a box cam?
An IP cam will appear on screen via an IP address so if your software can frame a YouTube video it should work as a test as the video is coming from the net.
Hope I'm making sense lol

Is this something different? That said this does not look a cheap cam

Good point hemmi..sense up and manual operation was the issue a year ago nearly when I looked at yhem and yeah karl killed it dead..way to look it is try the Sammy on the moon on auto settings. .it's murder..you need shutter control to stop it washing out..if a camera had manual control I wouldn't even bother with sense up ..What's the highest sense up you have used without image going pete tong..think 256 was pushing it ..ok the phil dyer 1024 dont think ive had any decent results at that yet..prob better at a dark site to test.

But have yet to see any controllable via the network. That being said, they may exist, but be 100% sure before you buy. Hemmi

I'm wondering if it has as some do RSVP-485 if you can capture the image to one software and control the camera with another software. This is pretty much what I do with the Mallincam anyway. The research continues....

Hmmm. I'd not seen the vids before but yeah not that impressive and lots of latency! Is this an IP thing? I'll take a look at this ZWO cam.
