Howdy folks It is common practice to give ourselves usernames in Forums, even though many of us prefer to be called by our real name. BUT . . . what does your username mean, or how did it come about? Mine is 'Dragon Man' because I am a 'Dragons' supporter and I don't mean the Catalan Dragons I'm talking about the greatest Rugby League Club in the world: St.George Dragons, also now known as St.George-Illawarra Dragons after the two teams merged. www.dragons.com.au/They hold the world record for consecutive Premierships of any Professional sports team. They won Eleven Grand Finals in a row from 1956 to 1966!!!! with a total of 15 all up. In 1959 season they never lost a game, and hold the Australian Rugby League record for a winning score - 91–6 against Canterbury in 1935 and also hold the record for the largest crowd in Australian Rugby League of 107,558 against Melbourne Storm in 1999 I am in many Forums on the internet and go by either 'Dragon Man' or my other username 'ballaratdragons' after the name of the local Rugby league Club I founded www.sportingpulse.com/club_info.cgi?c=7-2993-26738-0-0I am also known as -KEN- in one Forum. OK, that's why my Username. What's your excuse?

Hahaha i like it! Sounds like they are a very sucessful Rugby team Ken. And that is one huge attendance! For me its something very similar to you. Sport related. Hoops are a nick name for best football team in the world! Glasgow Celtic Football Club! Their strip has ALWAYS been green and white hoops. Hence the nick name Hoops They were the first british team to win the european cup (now called the champions league) back in 1967. The team that played that day now have legend status! They are known as the Lisbon Lions. Every player in the team came from inside a 30 mile radius of the stadium in glasgow. They are huge team with supporters all over the world. Sadly though football has changed in recent years and now its all about money! So the big countries dominate (England, Spain, Germany, Italy and more recently France too) An example would be in england the worst team in league get around £60 million for finishing last....the team that finishes first in scotland get £1 million. But even with this huge disadvantage Celtic still hold thier own against the big boys! Just last year we beat possibly the greatest football team there has ever been...Barcalona(with messi, xavi etc)! I was lucky enough to be at that match we won 2-1 and the memories will be with me till i die. Last year we managed to make the last 16 of the champions league (its not looking good for this year tho) and that was hailed as a remarkable achichevment! Every team that makes it that far have spent £100-300 million + on players every season. Celtic spent £5 million. The stadium is called Celtic park or Parkhead or paradise whatever you like. It holds 60,000 fans. And has been described by the one and only Lionel Messi as the best atmosphere anywhere in the world on champions league nights! (Messi is the best player to have ever touched a football in the history of the game!) I traveled over to Amsterdam a couple of weeks ago to watch Celtic play Ajax. Sadly we lost 1-0 was still a great trip though Next tuesday i will be going to Celtic park to watch them DESTROY AC Milan! So thats my reasoning for Hoops86. Oh i should mention that the 86 part is just the year i was born

My username..bit nostalgic and same as ken tied to my locality of my kin...shirva...is a stretch of the fourth and clyde canal, that is at the village of twechar.east Dumbarton. .Scotland. ..where my mums family lived..my grandfather was the last lock keeper for that stretch of canal before it was shut down they lived in a cottage attached to the stables building that was used by bargemen..my grandfather died when I was young and never got to know him well due to ill health..my gran died six months before I got married. .so my tribute to them was to use the name of where they lived. ..davy...
