Daft question here right... See when i get perfect focus with the bahtinov mask on a random star... Does this mean i should have perfect focus on everything? I.e DSO's, Planets and the moon?

The mask will get you dead on for DSO, but moon and planets will just be close. Still as far as I know manual eyeballing on moon and planets is the only way. But it will be pretty close with the mask.

I researched this a tad more, and some say infinity focus is infinity focus. They say a mask can get you perfect infinity focus on moon and planets also. But in my personal experience, when I get good focus on a bright star with the mask, then go to the moon, it is ever so slightly soft. It may also depend on focal length and scope type too. Your results may very! Heck even on the moon itself focus can vary from center to edge ever so slightly at certain focal lengths/ratios.
Also Moon and planets are affected by turbulent atmosphere more than DSO's so that will affect focus. I still say just zoom in and get the sharpest image you can visually. I think in perfect seeing (like that ever happens) a mask will be dead on for planets too.

Yes, Infinity Focus is Infinity Focus. Theoretically! If you get exact focus on one astronomical object all the others will be exactly focussed. But it never seems to happen that way! Many years of astrophotography taught me that focus ain't always focus. But at least with Video it's a fast fix. Just re-focus while you are watching it Also, temperature changes necessitate re-focussing.
