This is something that i don't ever see mentioned. Do you guys use it? Here are a few examples i took for fun a week ago when messing about on the moon with the SCB2000. The focus wasn't great on these it was done by eye as i was changing about different cameras all the time to compare.

Impressive chris I was of the thought that if you digitally zoomed in it would create more noise and lose definition clearly I was wrong..nice pointer for me ..davy

Have done a bit of digging on this camera by lntech..they do an astronomy osd menu for this camera by request found this out on the cn forum. So I have contacted lntech for details of astronomy model of the ln300. . This camera is smaller because its only 12v and seemingly they do it as a board camera. It has a big brother the ln320 its bigger in size but looks like same spec but with rs485 control. .davy

Sorry Davy these pics were from the SCB2000 But yes there is two LN300 models that are the same spec. The mini version and the big version (that has rs485). I havent seen anything on this 'astronomy OSD menu' got a link to that or some more info on it?

Yep, tried it on my Sammy SCC-A2333 (SCB-4000) and didn't like the Pixelation so I didn't bother with it.

So question.... What would give better results if you want the image to be bigger? Im thinking planets here...
1: Remove 0.5 focal reducer 2: Add a barlow with the reducer 3: Use the digital zoom without a barlow and with the reducer?

For planets Chris no reducer just a 3X barlow for max magnification.

Yep, Carl is right. Just a barlow. Your number 2 option would negate itself While the FR makes it smaller the Barlow would make it bigger again, so together they would achieve nothing. Even just removing the FR would help, but if you want really good planetary views/images use the 3x barlow. But, if you want to do planetary imaging seriously get a 5x Powermate, not a standard 3x barlow, unless you have an SCT. If you have an SCT stick with the barlow. The down side is that Powermates are very expensive, so you would have to be dead serious about planetary imaging.
