Swapped over scopes,, stuck the esprit ed80 on the heq5 and tethered to byeos,,,, And can't achieve focus on the moon ðŸ˜.. Put an extension tube on and still no where near it,, put the evostar 0.85 focal reducer on and still can't focus. Camera attached to byeos and laptop... Here is where it gets weird,, I can disconnect from byeos and I can focus via the viewer 🤔,, Weird,, Switched back to the evostar with the 5d and can't view on byeos either, Argh so much for upgrading

No messing about with this,, the money I was putting towards a samyang 14mm f2.8 lens just got decimated. Had a look around the Internet and skywatcher manual and ordered the rest of the kit that comes as standard in the it that gets sold in America but Europe,, well let's just say we have to plough in another £177 into skywatchers piggy Bank,, now that's annoying.
So have ordered the Adapter that connects focuser to field flatner The dedicated skywatcher field flatner And Canon fit adapter
Does kind of pee you off that you spend over £1100 and not get the dslr to focus, Rant over 🤔 or is it

Relax Davy, new kit is always tricky, especially when it's dark! I was messing about with this piece of kit with no joy, can't get focus with an eyepiece or the Watec camera. www.rothervalleyoptics.co.uk/william-optics-2019-slide-base-50mm-uniguide-scope.htmlStrange front focuser ring arrangement, but I will sort it, looks like it needs an extension tube. Annoying when you are wasting valuable stargazing time but persistence usually pays off. The bracket is well made and accurate so no alignment adjustment needed between it and the main OTA.

Ken is right when he says that the focuser is the weakest part of a Skywatcher scope, even after adjusting the friction pads on my Esprit 100ED focuser I had to use the focus lock at least partially on to keep the focuser in position. That is with the Mallincam Extreme and a 2" diagonal which must weigh less than a DLSR camera. A motorised focuser helps as the motor keeps the focuser where you want it, heavy equipment can be tricky at steep angles. Better quality focusers for SW telescopes are not cheap though.
Hogmanay is just around the corner Davy, only been in Scotland at New Year once, I was stationed at the TA barracks at Perth during the firemans strike 1977 - 78, I was in the RAF then, the locals really looked after us including taking us round with them at New Year. The Green Goddess fire engines were so slow that we were overtaken by a Puch Maxi moped on the dual carriageway into Perth town centre! Another crew couldn't find a fire hydrant because they parked on top of it. It was like Keystone cops at times.
All the best for 2021 everyone.

Seen a green goddess at the national flight museum over in East fortune out Edinburgh way,, some bits of kit,, house would have been burnt to the ground by time it arrived,,
