Weather wise,, mmmm what can say,, getting hit with a pretty poor weather front,, rain coming down like the monsoon season,, had a lot of flooding in the area worse than I've seen in years,, is this going to be the way it is these days 🤔 Back on subject,, I've had the watec rigged for a week or more on the orion mini guider, last night the moon was rising in my fov,, all set up and ready to rock n roll,, ended up more like sausage roll,, Flash if earthshine and into the clouds never to be seen again,, it did brighten up the clouds and I tracked it a while,, Big difference watching in monochrome,, I actually enjoyed it,, more definition for a start,, which I really enjoyed only snag was the amount of white pixels produced by the camera,, far to many to give enjoyment in live video,, lot of noise as well,, Was hoping to try the hydrogen alpha filter on the dslr but just not happening.
It has made me wonder if I should invest some dough into getting a zwo asi 120 mono camera,, set it up with the filter wheel for portable kit.
Another disappointment is yard straight in front of my fov have installed new security lights,, don't now if I will capture anything from the flat now,, Looks like it's narrow band astronomy for me now

More rain here again,, yeah doing my head in,, folk about an hour away getting some clear skies,, which makes it worse. Going to be one of those years again by looks of it. I was looking at some utube videos on the 120 mm camera from zwo and there isn't much difference between the colour and mono,, the colour gives more options,,

I was looking at some utube videos on the 120 mm camera from zwo and there isn't much difference between the colour and mono,, the colour gives more options,, I had a play with my Watec 902 camera last night using Saturn as my target. I fed the image through a CCTV recorder so that I could play with the exposure. I managed to improve it but still had a lot of snow on screen. Then I went to the telescope to adjust something and I switched on the white rope light that is around the top of the obsy wall. The camera picked up the extra light, the image got darker, the best image I saw all night. Just shows how sensitive the Watec camera is and by accident discovering how to improve the image. Stay safe.

Stay safe. Done some more experimenting with the Watec 902 on Saturn & Jupiter, this camera actually shows Jupiter better than the Mallincam Extreme as you can see Jupiter or its moons with the Mallincam but not both together. Mount wouldn't initialize, eventually found that I had plugged the PC direct lead into the guide socket on the mount, mount now works and under PC control! One good reason for checking stuff is OK in daylight. Nice to be back after nearly 3 years lost. One thing that impressed me tonight was the mount tracked spot on after its overhaul & re-calibration at Dark Frame, it did not move off target during the whole session, previously I have had to keep the target on the centre of the screen by slewing it a little bit every now and then. Not sorted out a new camera yet, but if the mount continues to track this good I should get some good video & pictures. I got a longer session as well after fitting one of the pier extensions on to lift the scope up higher, my obsy walls are quite tall so raising the scope has kept low down targets in view for a bit longer. All the best.
