Given the recent posts,, analogue systems are not as dead and buried as we thought,, I've always been a fan of using cctv equipment for astronomy,, it's where our roots are,, most forums ect have gone along with using the modern terminology of calling it electronically assisted viewing,, kinda thing,, we just stuck to video astronomy but we do move with the times,, nothing nostalgic about our forum each if us will do some form of video astronomy and we are cool with this,, no pigeon holes here,, it's a hobby and we're here to enjoy it. Back on track lol
If Carol hadn't been a pain in the backside and I had got my beloved roll off roof Observatory,, yes still hurts not getting my own way π I would have maad meteor capture running via outdoor cctv set ups,, probably two cameras facing south,, I wanted them on pan and tilt devices to move as required,, and use UFO capture software,, Think the collection of data to pass on was my main reason for looking at such a system,, worthwhile venture Unfortunately no obs,, and can't do it from the flat unfortunately.
But I will set up analogue kit Over the next week,, I will use the watec and try it with narrow band filters, HA, HB, OIII, should be interesting on a low lux video camera, Mmm maybe the F5 esprit

I still use an Analogue camera on my main rig. It is a Revolution R2 and it is used as my Finderscope. It isn't attached to my laptop, it has it's own 6 inch colour monitor in my control room. You can see it mounted up on top of my rig: The monitor for it is the little one on the far left Works like a dream

I think if the obsy is semi-temporary a pod type is better, they come apart to transport somewhere else. Mine would be very difficult to shift, same for any other Roll on/roll off design unless it is made modular for easier moving. You need to keep the other half happy, I've been constructing a raised bed in the garden for the missus, so I will get away with some more astro gear for good behaviour! All the best and stay safe.

Got a bit done tonight, dug out the analogue kit and sorted out what I needed and, ended up with the watec 902H with 1/2" sensor fitted to orion mini finder guider and connected to the eazycap USB video grabber via coaxial cable,, think this was the better variety if I can remember that far back,, few hot pixels, but this was always the case with these cameras,, really good picture for a guick set up You have to use arcsoft software,, diver and main program for sharpcap to pick up the camera. Pretty pleased, it still all works

Slept on the idea of the portable set up and to cut down on kit,, an I think going back to using the watec is a good idea, there isn't much difference I feel between the zwo 178mc and the watec,, and given the fact I have discovered two big dust bunnies in the zwo π’. Going to try the watec with the narrow band filters,, if it works,, then that's way I'm goingπ
