ngc 6744 barred spiral in Pavo zwo 290, rasa 8, 16 x 20 sec . No filters. I put up with the bloated stars to get some more detail in the galaxy
and ngc 4945 again 13 x 14 sec
and I cant get rid of that dust . I took the glass off the camera and cleaned it, but it is still there cheers Paul

Thanks Ken. I like the Rasa and 290 combination for galaxies. It is in the skyshed pod and ready to go so I can get up and going and back inside by the heater within an hour. Been a bit short of time as well in the last couple of weeks and the other scopes in the shed have to be set up in the daylight. The Esprit 80 is the one I want to use alot for nebulae. It has to be lifted out of the shed and polar aligned soI tend to use it when I have more time. Got a bit of redundant gear as well that I should use more often cheers Paul

Paul, can you piggyback the Esprit on top of the RASA so they are both always functional?
I always piggyback and use both scopes each time.

Cant believe we have had 5 clear nights in a row in July. Tried a different camera and scope tonight for M83 and ngc 4945 Meade lx90 8" sct,6.3 FR, imx 432 .The sensor of the 432 is nearly 3 times the zwo290 and the focal length of the lx90/6.3 is about 3 times the rasa8, so the FOV is approximately the same . I tried the zwo 294 on the same system tonight and the images were poor. M83,21 x 15sec ngc 4945 13x15sec cheers Paul

WOW!!! the Galaxy detail in both pics is fantastic, especially 4945, but the RASA's stars are far better.

Thanks Ken. The tracking of the HEQ5 with the deforked lx90 is nowhere near as good as the EQ6-R with the Rasa . The imx 432 is the only camera that I can use on the lx90 8". The 294 and the 224 produce essentially rubbish on that scope.
I am going to give the newts a run with those 2 coloured cameras next clear night.I will have to be very particular with the balancing of the newts on the HEQ-5 otherwise those stars wont improve. The HEQ-5 is spot on with the tracking with the lighter weight of the Esprit 80. The payload limit is much less than the weight in the specifications for that mount. cheers Paul
